Not because of the recent scaremongering but because i had covid at Christmas and i understand you are more likely to react if youve had covid.

I want to put it off for a few more weeks, partly because i don't have anyone to drive me this weekend but partly to have more time since infection.

Friends who have had covid have been quite unwell, although some have been fine. I have severe health anxiety and this is sending me into hyperdrive.

If i simply dont book the appointment just yet will i lose my slot?

I will put my big girl pants on and have the jab at some point.

My MIL had the AZ jab 28 days after she had covid and all she had was a headache, still went to work etc so it doesn't always follow that you'll have a rough time.

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 17/03/2021 16:30

Had mine on Monday. I'm mid 40s and had suspected covid in April. I won't lie. I had the AZ and it knocked me for six. Aching legs and flu like symptoms. Started to feel awful Monday night. I'm now starting to feel so much better and looking forward to my tea. It doesn't affect everyone. I was ill but it's a very small price to pay. Just get it done in the opposite arm you sleep on. Mines still sore

Thays good to know. My twonk of a DP wont have his but i really really dont want to get covidagain, ive never felt so unwell/terrified in my life and i didn't even get respiratory symptoms

I had AZ, was under the weather for a couple of days, aching muscles, headaches and tiredness. But.... nothing a couple paracetamol and rest couldn't cope with. Much preferable than covid.

cassgate · 17/03/2021 16:34

I had covid at Xmas as well and am having my jab tomorrow. I have stocked up on paracetamol just in case but figure better the side effects of the jab than another bout of covid.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 17/03/2021 16:36

Have you seen this article by a scientist, about side effects?

BBC News - Vaccine side effects: My experience of them and what they mean
www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56375307

TomBarbara · 17/03/2021 16:39

Have you got far to travel for it? I'm driving to mine tomorrow. I think any side effects would kick in later on so not affect the drive home. I'm not sure about side effects, but personally I'd be far more worried about covid which you've coped with.

QueenOfLabradors · 17/03/2021 16:39

[love] I had mine on Monday too and arm is still a bit achey today. But not enough to stop me driving (it was in my left and therefore gear-changing arm). I felt a bit rough yesterday but still got out to walk the dogs.

As for your twonk DP... Shame he won't be able to join you on the P&O cruise that you've just won in a competition... Grin!

MrsBennetsnerves · 17/03/2021 16:41

I've had covid and had the AZ last week. I had chills and strong aches in the vaccination arm overnight and then chills the following evening. Both helped by paracetamol. My arm was sore for a few days more but apart from that I felt fine.

LEMtheoriginal · 17/03/2021 16:45

In fairness a cruise is my idea of hell so I'll pass it on to someone deserving. Grin

I dont drive so will need dp to take me. He is seriously needle phobic so will probably need to pull over on the way home. Hes on call this weekend so i'll leave it til next weekend.

Im hoping for the pfizer one.

My husband had the vaccine on Sunday. He couldn't work on Monday and Tuesday. He had a bad night last night but seems OK now.

He was quite ill with covid and he said this wasn't as bad.

You will be OK to drive yourself.

Mindymomo · 17/03/2021 16:52

You won’t loose your spot if you don’t want it just yet, but I expect you will continue to get texts to book. You can do a dummy booking and see what’s offered and where to see if you can get it anywhere local to you. Just don’t press confirm booking.

Ballstothis1 · 17/03/2021 16:55

I’d book it now as looking at Sky news there’s going to be a blip in supply.

TheBigBaboon · 17/03/2021 16:56

I'm CEV. Had Covid at Christmas and had the vaccine on the 28th Jan.

Had a slight headache.

LEMtheoriginal · 17/03/2021 17:31

Ballstothis - yes, ive just read that 😱

That article describes the most extreme side effects I have heard of. I know lots of caters ( I am one myself) all in our 30's / 40's and the worst we have had is fever like symptoms which are easily knocked out with paracetamol. Most of us had no side effects at all.
Covid has killed so many people. I am happy to go through a few side-effects if it means I don't get the disease or I not responsible for giving it to someone else. Remember, the big scare stories ring out far louder than the stories of the majority of people who have no issues at all.

LEMtheoriginal · 17/03/2021 19:13

All booked

soontobeanana · 17/03/2021 19:20

Well done! - I'm sure the side effects won't be as bad as you fear and much better than the worry of getting covid again. Hope all goes well

minnie465 · 17/03/2021 20:12

I had covid at Christmas. Got Pfizer vaccine 16th Feb. Just had a sore arm. Had my second dose last week and had flu like symptoms and a headache for 24 hrs. Glad I got it. I was nervous too.
