My dc is 14mo, and only having night feeds now. Thrilled to recieve my jab invite today but now someone's squashed that by saying it might not be advisable. I thought it was OK... Can I ask for people's opinions please. I can't get that case of the morning sickness jab out of my head now

NHS advice is bfing mum's can safely have either jab now. I've had mine.

OhDearShirley · 16/03/2021 19:08

I've had both doses of pfizer and I'm breastfeeding. No adverse effects for either of us.

crazybunchofdolls · 16/03/2021 19:08

You're fine to have the jab. I work for Nhs and lots of my breastfeeding colleagues have had it following the advice.

Londonwriter · 16/03/2021 19:08

I’ve had a dose of the Pfizer vaccine and am breastfeeding.

Amrythings · 16/03/2021 19:09

Royal College of Obstetricians are recommending it for pregnant women, let alone breastfeeding, I wouldn't worry.

LunchWithAGruffalo · 16/03/2021 19:10

The latest advice is there no reason why you shouldn't have the jab while breastfeeding.

Which morning sickness jab? If you mean thalidomide it was a medicine and not a vaccine. A completely different scenario.

Patapouf · 16/03/2021 19:15

Morning sickness jab??? Not sure what you mean but that's nowt to do with COVID.

Both the NHS, WHO and the breastfeeding network have said the vaccine is good when breastfeeding.

I've had it, no ill effects to older breastfeeding baby over here.

mumwon · 16/03/2021 19:32

60 years ago - it was a medication not a vaccination
It that affected babies in early pregnancy - this vaccine been checked & rechecked across the world & there is a system were we can all report any side effects -

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 16/03/2021 19:37

Apologies you are right, it wasn't a jab. I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to scare monger (if I did)

Thanks for the useful information. I am so elated it's unreal. I just want this over. This feels like a massive individual step.

I've had Oxford AZ today and am breastfeeding a toddler. I read the details and couldn't find a logical reason about why there could be any negative impact on DS. UK healthcare workers and many US women have taken it while breastfeeding and no reports of issues from any medical not breastfeeding group. I hope a couple of covid antibodies might find their way to DS, it wouldn't be enough for immunity but every little helps. I felt it was safe for us, but if you don't feel comfortable yet then you can wait a little longer as millions around the world are taking vaccines every day.

Thank you, you are right of course I am overthinking it. I went from instant excitement to worry but I guess that's also the woes of being a parent. I've had a good Google and I feel more comfortable with my decision. Ultimately, I am also little use to my dc if I catch covid. I've got this far, I just want to feel like the end is in sight.

Many thanks for all of your input
