Will you continue with school testing at home?

Just wondered what others think about this. They have had the 3 tests at school and now taking the tests home.

I'm a bit concerned about false negatives. Wondering whether to continue with it or not. You have to upload the results to a website I understand.

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss

And yet supermarket staff do no testing and see far more people in a day without all of this

Supermarket staff can wear PPE, are usually behind a screen and serve people for a few minutes. Simply doesn’t compare to a classroom all day.

Anyone who has a mass testing centre nearby can access regular testing without symptoms regardless of their profession. Im in the Liverpool area where these were trialled last year, they've remained open and are used by many.

DS and DD1 will be taking them as will me and DH (we ordered them as we have DCs in school). Its only DD2 who wont, but as she's still in primary she's not expected to.

I've still got to go to work and I have no idea who my colleagues are going home to (vulnerable etc)

It's a bit of a faff on the website, but its not hard and I believe its important to carry on with it. I'm thinking with 4 of us doing them twice a week then surely they won't all be false negatives. We will still carry on with SD and masks etc

Yes of course

Kapalika · 17/03/2021 11:31

Yes, absolutely.

When these were first discussed the idea was that close contacts could be tested and whilst ever they are negative they could stay in school. Now its absolute nonsense. My nephew is now on 5th (!!!) period of isolation because he sat 2 rows behind someone facing the other way in a room with windows open to have lunch, That child tested pos on a lateral flow. 90 kids now off school. Its a disgrace. When is it going to stop? Does anyone know? When do we start testing for norovirus or other viral conditions? The vulnerable have (nearly) all been vaccinated. This has to stop.

Yes. Two secondary DC's.

Already on our home testing schedule, Tuesday's and Fridays (we don't see or so anything over the weekend except walk or run). Bit of a faff but if it keeps things in check we might make it though to Easter.

When does it stop? Never it would seem. Common sense has gone out of the window.

I feel your pain. My son was back in for 2.5 days. Now off for 10 again. He can go back in on the last day of term. Him and about 20 other kids in his class. Because they're all deemed "close contacts of 1 child". How the fuck is that even possible?
