Any other asthmatics been offered the jab yet?

I got a text from my surgery and it has allowed me to book my jab for a weeks time. I tried the main link for the NHS and it wouldn't allow me to book there. I take steroids via inhaler, but my asthma isn't particularly bad, is under control, never been hospitalised in my adult years ( I'm 40.) i don't usually get offered a flu jab, although did this year as they extended it I believe. I was quite surprised to get the jab offer, as thought my area was quite behind on vaccines.

No. I'm 49 and take 2 steroids daily. I'm also a teacher. My gp says no - my outpatient nebuliser trips "don't count".

Sure as shit it'll be my "underlying condition" that causes problems when I inevitably get it though.

I got a call today from my GP to go in and have it tomorrow morning
Age 40 and on 200/6 fostair and ventolin, no recent oral steroids, no hospitalisations, normal BMI and no other health conditions apart from hayfever and asthma
have flu jab every year
West Yorkshire She apologised for delay in calling me and said they were doing all asthmatics anyway

ConnieDobbs · 15/03/2021 22:14

Nope.

I take combination inhalers daily, plus ventolin when needed. Apparently they are being strict in this area and limiting it to people who have been hospitalised with asthma in the last year.

HSHorror · 15/03/2021 23:36

They shouldnt be choosing to be strict though the criteria listed is hospitalization and clarified to be ever apparently

landofgiants · 16/03/2021 11:18

Nope.

I'm 45. Customer facing job. Would say my asthma is 'moderate'. Not particularly well controlled - this week it is OK and I feel fairly normal but sometimes it is a really pest especially at work. History of previous bouts of pneumonia. Not been called and not had my asthma review either.

I am irritated by not being in group 6 because I feel as though I should be, but I can see the logic in vaccinating in age order. DP's SIL is same age as me, different area, also asthmatic but working from home. She got offered her jab about a month ago, but hasn't had it yet as she's not sure she wants it!

DD has hers next week. She was hospitalised last year (Wales). We were wondering if that was the criteria because other asthmatics I know having been called yet.

misseightyeight · 16/03/2021 11:33

Asthmatic, 30ish years old, already had my jab. My asthma is moderate but poorly controlled (recent asthma attack). Childhood hospitalisations.

FreeButtonBee · 16/03/2021 11:47

DH is 42 and had severe asthma as a child but now controlled with Brown and Blue inhalers. Hasn't been called yet.

WaverleyPirate · 16/03/2021 15:08

I don't think so as my daughter has never been hospitalised and was offered one. She is on brown steroid inhaler.

Son on beige inhaler in a different area not offered one.

Eccle80 · 16/03/2021 15:19

@BestIsWest yes the criteria is hospitalisation or multiple courses of oral steroids in a short tablet, just a steroid inhaler (or even less frequent oral steroid use) isn’t enough to be eligible. Though some GPs appear to have done their own thing, which doesn’t feel very fair (though I am pleased for those who have been vaccinated)

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/03/2021 15:24

I had mine in group 4 as I have brittle asthma
