Needle phobia and mass vaccination centres

Has anyone with needle phobia had their vaccination at a mass vaccination centre? I have had hypnotherapy for my phobia and I am now able to just about cope with having a vaccination or blood test, but only if I lie down, otherwise I am likely to faint. Is it likely that this can be accommodated at a mass vaccination centre?

Sorry I don't think so. Certainly the one I attended was just rows of plastic chairs. I am not great with needles either - generally cope okay with vaccinations but blood tests I still find horrific. My vaccinator was lovely and I told him in advance I was nervous. He kept me chatting and I genuinely barely felt anything.

I don’t think it would be set up for that as PP says, but presumably they would have some contingency plan for if people do faint/feel unwell, so they must have a trolley somewhere about?

There are specific sessions for those who need additional help eg learning difficulties. The nurse we had was amazing, certainly would be a good person for anyone whose nervous and needs to be treated gently, both language wise and physically. Your gp practice might also have a similar session set aside

Oh and all booths here, you can't see anyone else being vaccinated. Call 119 and explain

It may bw worth checking this thread, which asked the same question www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4190985-I-have-to-lie-down-when-I-have-an-injection-advice-needed-Possible-trigger-warning?msgid=105561098

Thank you for the replies, and for the link to that other thread, which is reassuring.

Hey there @GCAcademic - just cross posting on our two threads. I'll be going later this week and will let you know how I get on. In my case not being able to lie down means I'll be back to square one and will have to find an alternative way of getting the jab. However the responses on my thread have been really positive so fingers crossed.

Thank you, @Penguineapig !

And fingers crossed that it does well for you! I liked the suggestion on your thread of bringing a yoga mat and lying down on it. Quite tempted to bring one as a backup.
