DH positive I'm pregnant in third trimester

So Dh is a teacher and has tested positive on LFT. PCR booked for tomorrow morning to confirm.

We have not been in very close contact much for past 2 days (sleeping separately due to me being fat and pregnant!) except for briefly being within a meter of each other earlier for about 10mins. He's feeling chills and a bit headachy that's all. I've quarantined him in one room for now.

I checked the nhs guidance and see that it says that if you test positive and live with a vulnerable person - pregnant people mentioned specifically- they should try and stay elsewhere during the positive persons isolation. Obviously I'd need to isolate myself (and DS) but it sounds like I shouldn't stay here in the house with him.

But how can I go stay with family without risking infecting them?

I've read some of the risks of pregnancy and covid and it is quite worrying - more likely to have preterm labour and also 5x more likely to end up in ICU etc.

Anyone had similar experience of partner testing positive when you were pregnant?

You shouldn’t stay with relatives Bea as you’re now isolating. Your DH should isolate away from you in another room. He cheat his meals in there, if you have more than one bathroom use separate ones, if not he wipes door handles etc after use.

Tbh I suspect there isn't really anything you can go as it is so contagious. With that said, I tested positive. My husband didn't. We stayed in the house together but:

  1. Used separate bedrooms;
  2. Used separate bathrooms;
  3. I stayed in my bedroom, only leaving to go to bathroom (couldn't really walk far anyway!). I did NOT go into kitchen, living-room, use landline etc;
  4. When leaving bedroom I wore a mask;
  5. Husband brought all food drinks to my door (closed) on a tray (he had a mask). I'd collect once he had gone.
etc

He has tested negative twice although I strongly suspect he had it albeit a mild version. If he genuinely hasn't had it I suspect will be down to luck despite the steps we took!

Really hope you do not catch it. Good luck.

I think isolating him to one room is priority and using separate bathrooms if possible. Also, definitely ventilate the house by keeping all windows open - especially the ones in his bedroom.

Agree you need to keep separate from him in the house. You can't go stay with someone else especially when you're living with someone who has tested positive. I hope you manage to avoid it or if you do get it that it's mild Flowers

We don't know your family and friends to know your options, you will need to think. Have any of them had covid or been fully vaccinated (and low risk e.g. Healthcare) who you could stay with?

Me, DH and DD all tested positive in January, I was 31 weeks pregnant at the time, they both had very very minimal symptoms where as I ended up in hospital for a week, was on IV antibiotics, fluids, steroids, blood thinners, potassium and oxygen. It was terrifying and horrid, however, the baby is absolutely fine, the maternity ward rang my mobile everyday whilst I was in hospital to ask how I was doing. I'm now nearly 39 weeks and everything has been absolutely fine. Everyone was more than helpful and reassuring Smile

I got Covid at 32 weeks. I felt ill, but didn't need medical attention. The hardest bit was DH having it at the same time, and having our toddler to look after! Baby is now 7 weeks and doing well! Smile

We've managed to find me somewhere to go and isolate alone. Luckily a family member has been staying at her parents during lockdown (to avoid the loneliness of lockdown living alone) and her house has been empty for a long time. I'm now here on my own for 9 days until isolation ends. DH is at home and thankfully feels fine so has a v mild case.

Completely irrelevant but I read the thread title as meaning your DH was sure you were pregnant and thought, surely by the third trimester, you both know?! Grin
