Do we stop social distancing and masks on 21st June?

Just wondering as I'm getting mixed messages. I thought that everything was allowed to open on 21st June (providing numbers don't increase again) but social distancing and masks remain. But at our last church meeting (on zoom) the vicar was saying that the guidelines say all restrictions are ending which includes masks and social distancing so the church can open up again with no restrictions in place. I'm not sure about this. Also by then all the CEV, CV and over 60's in our church will be at least 3 weeks post 2nd vaccination on 21st June apart from my 7 year old who is CV but can't have the vaccine until it's licenced for children. There are also other adults and children who aren't CV so won't be vaccinated by then either.

@Ijustknowitstimetogo

No thanks. Restrictions must never return once they are scrapped.

That’s a silly nonsensical thing to say. The data will dictate whether restrictions return or not. If there is a serious risk the NHS could become overwhelmed at any point then of course there will be restrictions. There is no choice in reality. An overwhelmed NHS is not an option.

Agreed. Totally nonsensical.

Unfortunately social distancing is causing a lot of harm mentally to a lot of people

Bollocks it is.

Stay at home orders maybe, but nobody's mental health is affected by wearing a mask, or not being able to go clubbing.[/quote]
You can only speak for yourself.

I'm deeply distressed by seeing everyone wear masks. Especially seeing masked people jogging and cycling with no one near. It breaks my heart to see them so petrified of others.

I'm deeply distressed by seeing local people's small businesses going to the wall whilst big shops like Smiths, M&S are allowed to sell the exact things that the small indies are not!

I'm deeply distressed by the catastrophic damage to every aspect of society over a virus that does not kill 99.9% of people under 70.

I think you'll find the runners and cyclists are wearing masks to appease the overly anxious (who are clearly in the vaccinated age groups) who think they can catch covid outside on a fleeting meeting with the aforementioned runners or cyclists. The overly anxious probably need medical help but covid is the only game in town at the moment so they can forget that.

I don't like wearing a mask but it would be ridiculous to say that it affects my mental health - I just don't like it. Some people will be genuinely distressed and need medical help if they have to wear one, but they will be in the very small minority.

I'm deeply distressed by seeing everyone wear masks Hmm over-reaction, much?

I wear one because I can't bear to make tedious small talk in the park, nowt to do with covid.

Hmm Bit of an over reaction there, you'd be deeply distressed seeing me on a walk with a mask not walking near anyone then.. I wear one because I prefer wearing a mask than a scarf to keep the cold air out as it aggravates my asthma. I hope masks become more acceptable now in this country going forward, even if not mandatory.

I very much doubt that they are petrified of others.

They are probably more petrified of coming into contact with the "sobbing and shaking" contingent who need their hands holding to process the horror of encountering someone going for a run/cycling.

There is of course also a group of people who genuinely struggle with masks
Embarrassingly this is me.

I cannot bear having anything touching my face which is causing me concern as I think I might need glasses.
