As the title states what temp and/or symptoms do you use to know if you should be tested. Thanks

I think it's officially 37.8 or higher

londongirl12 · 10/03/2021 22:26

I had the opposite, I couldn't get warm and was shivering. I felt cold to my bones.

FishWithoutABike · 10/03/2021 22:29

My Dd felt ever so slightly warm did not have a temp according to our temperature gun. She tested positive.

Porcupineintherough · 10/03/2021 22:30

Officially its 37.8. But I'd test if you feel either really hot or really cold regardless of what the thermometer says.

HolmeH · 10/03/2021 22:32

It’s odd, covid is 37.8 but the countless other illnesses I’ve taken my DD to the docs or hospital for, it’s been 38 everytime 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve always found that a bit strange!

okokok000 · 10/03/2021 22:33

I started with a mild sore throat, that got worse and an uncomfortable feeling when swallowing water / trying to eat. A v mild cough followed on day 2. A slight temp of around 37.5 started day 4. That night everything went rapidly downhill with every symptom I've seen listed online. I tested positive from a swab taken on day 5.

Get yourself a pulse oximeter. Mine has been invaluable!

The ear thermometer is confusing me as one ear is above the threshold at 37.9 and the other just below at 37.7. DH is reluctant to take me for a test so I just wanted to try and get some clarity. He’d expect me to have rigor before taking me(uncontrollably shaking/shivering)

You need to get tested. Clearly

Purplewithred · 10/03/2021 22:59

Do you have any other symptoms at all? Dihorrea, sore throat, stomach problems as well as cough or loss of taste and smell? Knackered, sore tongue/mouth, rash?

MouthAche · 10/03/2021 23:00

You dont have to have a temperature

Just have a test

MouthAche · 10/03/2021 23:01

There are sooooo many symptoms now, Not just the classic ones

Many many people have not had a temperature

Feelingconfusedtonight · 10/03/2021 23:02

I’ve been utterly exhausted yesterday and today. I’d just assumed it was lack of sleep catching up with me.

Get a postal test if your husband is reluctant to take you. Best to know.

I might need to, the thing is he won’t self isolate until I got a positive result so if I am in fact positive I’m keen to know sooner rather than later.

If you order a test before 3pm you'll receive it the next day. Results come back pretty quick once you return them.

notrub · 10/03/2021 23:15

You've a temp and you feel unwell.

GET A TEST!!

Lie about the symptoms if you need to to book it - the temp "requirement" is much higher than most people have with covid - many don't even have a high temp.

And the drive through test centres are very efficient - I had my results back within 24h.

Feelingconfusedtonight · 10/03/2021 23:18

Thanks all, I’ll get tested.

That's why he won't take you for a test because he doesn't want to isolate. He should be isolating until you get your result just in case

I know he doesn’t want to isolate, he doesn’t want the inconvenience of isolating before or indeed after a test result . I know he should be self isolating just in case but he has unilaterally decided that because I haven’t been anywhere( been to the supermarket and out for walks) I couldn’t possibly have covid. The test is booked now and he’s pissed off. I need to act as a carer for DGM after her surgery on Friday so I’m not wanting to take the risk. Even when I explained to him about not wanting to take any risks with her health he’s still not conceded.

Inconvenience? Ah bless him!

Is he aware some people haven't left there house for A YEAR?

@MouthAche he’s very much a man of routine and doesn’t want anything to disrupt it even a pandemic. I thought mentioning the risk to an elderly relative might “soften” his attitude but it didn’t make one iota off a difference. He’s now gone off in a mood to sleep in the spare room and told me I need to wake him in the morning.

A man of routine... Well thats ok then 🤦🏼

ChameleonClara · 11/03/2021 01:48

Oh dear Flowers. Yes you need to test. He sounds pretty unhelpful! Hopefully not covid but you need to do what's right.

CKBJ · 11/03/2021 06:19

You need to do what you feel is right. He doesn’t sound a very nice man and very controlling.

Dauphinois · 11/03/2021 13:50

I'm so glad you're getting tested and hope it turns out to be a false alarm.

The NHS symptom checker doesn't mention a figure when referring to temperatures - here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/
