When do we think the Covid pregnancy guidance will change?

I'm a teacher so I'm thinking of my industry particularly but am aware that from 28 weeks of your employer can't facilitate you working in a non/reduced person facing role with social distancing or working from home, then you're sent home with full pay.

When do we think this guidance will realistically change? I won't be getting the vaccine and will be 28 weeks at the beginning of July.

Anybody want to throw their two pence in? I think the guidance is unlikely to change until after all restrictions are lifted.

I’m wondering the same. I will be 28 weeks 13/07. They are requesting we return to the office 12/04. But I haven’t told them I’m pregnant yet. I am hoping once i tell them they will let me WFH until
I go. 🙏🤞

I should have said. Although not a teacher. Support staff in a college

I think it would be very unwise to change the guidance even when all restrictions are lifted, as that's precisely when cases will rise the most. Third trimester pregnant women will be especially vulnerable at that time, having not received the vaccine.

Exactly @Circumlocutious.

I’m hoping they do not make me go back. Soooo don’t want to buy maternity office wear.

I'm 26 weeks, no idea what the plan is from 28 as I'm currently shielding, and furloughed! I'm retail, so no sure if the guidance from 28 weeks apply!

LJZRBB · 10/03/2021 16:47

I think it does @TOWGA. I was reading something on the GOV website earlier.

TOWGA · 10/03/2021 16:49

Thanks @LJZRBB my job is complicated atm as I'm currently transferring stores, and had no contact from my new store. I'm unsure whether if shielding finishes on 31st March and if it does, whether they want me in!

I don’t know, but I’m quite worried about it. Our HR manager seems to think it will be lifted by May and that we’ll be in until the bitter end.

Racoonworld · 10/03/2021 17:06

Probably when all restrictions are lifted, so June if all goes to plan.

Parkandride · 10/03/2021 17:11

It's very tough as everyone's shouting about how the vulnerable are vaccinated, but pregnant women aren't. Plus the age groups we mix with most are also likely to be where cases rise as again not vaccinated yet. Fine for most as it'll be a mild illness but scary for us, my lungs feel squashed enough as it is

I worked til 36 weeks (primary teacher). It's up to you and your employer.
