Thanks for sharing OP. It’s great news 😀

Druidlookingidiot · 10/03/2021 08:38

Thanks for posting. 🎉🎉🎉

HolmeH · 10/03/2021 14:53

Well this is just excellent news that BOTH are likely to be effective! It also suggests that they will be effective against the couple other variants with similar mutations.

Why are these stories not headline news?

It also shows why the media shouldn’t report on very early, small data studies as they aren’t necessarily accurate & have caused everyone to go ‘vaccines don’t work against variants, we’ll be lockdown forever, Boris is an idiot for opening schools’ (he is an idiot in general tho obvs 😂). When actually, after we’ve done more tests & got more data, it’s looking like they are going to be just fine!

Dragongirl10 · 10/03/2021 14:55

thank you for sharing, should be a headline.

Beebityboo · 10/03/2021 15:01

Also saw on twitter there are rumblings that the virus won't be able to mutate much more than it has done already, so it may be that the danger of vaccine redundancy may not be such a big one?
Such positive news all round!

Delatron · 10/03/2021 17:22

I saw that on Twitter also.

Wonder why these are the quiet threads though?!

This is amazing news. It stops all the ‘what about the MUTANT VARIANTS’ arguments. Well it won’t. But adds weight to it definitely. The vaccines are better than we could have hoped for.

IpanemaNova · 10/03/2021 17:25

Such reassuring news.

Because the good news doesn't sound as dramatic and fear keeps the population in compliance
Reallybadidea · 10/03/2021 17:33

Why would journalists or a right-wing, Conservative government want to cause fear and "keep the population in compliance"?

Goodness knows. But they do
Muchtoomuchtodo · 10/03/2021 18:12

Well that’s fang news.

Thanks for sharing op 👍🏻

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/03/2021 18:19

Excellent news - I wondered why they were wanging on about the Kent variant being more deadly than thought, and this explains it

Mustn't let the population relax quite yet ...

Bordois · 10/03/2021 18:31

Whats next?

not 100% effective
no protection from just 1 jab
dont prevent transmission
but variants
vaccine evasion

Delatron · 10/03/2021 18:37

Yes it’s only March and compliance is waning and they know it. Lockdown fatigue. No wonder this isn’t headline news.

Exactly you promote good news, lose even more compliance However most people are seeing through it now
doireallyneedaname · 10/03/2021 18:54

I didn’t think too much into why it’s not headline news, but I guess that makes sense.

60% of the population have not yet been vaccinated at all. So if they spread good news too soon, idiots will start socialising, case numbers will rise, and hospitals will be swamped with another wave of infections.
We need to hang on until we have more of the population vaccinated.
This is long term good news, for when we have all been vaccinated. It doesn’t apply yet!
