Ask your kids to come straight home...

I work in a small local shop and while there are no schools nearby, our location means that people pass us en masse on their way home.

Yesterday, with the kids back at school, between 3pm and 6pm, many groups of children descended to buy sweets and pop and crisps. No masks. And while I'm quite happy to insist obvious older children wear them - we still have many primary school children coming in with their friends.

So, my personal plea, please ask your children to come straight home, cos I'd really like to see my mum and dad this year. Wink

You could close your shop between 3-6pm

EsquireFuss · 09/03/2021 13:13

If I had the authority, I'd love to. Smile

Probably in the wrong job if you don't want customers

TrustTheGeneGenie · 09/03/2021 13:14

It's a shop. You can't complain when you have customers.

UhtredRagnarson · 09/03/2021 13:15

Your employer has the authority to close the shop or insist on limited numbers, masks, sanistiser stations and social distancing. They have an obligation to you. Address this with them.

OverTheRainbow88 · 09/03/2021 13:15

Can you put a sign up saying no more than 2 kids in at a time?

Alexandernevermind · 09/03/2021 13:16

Insist on masks and smaller groups of schoolchildren.

Moondust001 · 09/03/2021 13:17

You can ban anyone from your shop (if the owner agrees). Otherwise, really, you are being ridiculous. Those children are in school with teachers all day, and the evidence suggests that they are not at any greater risk than anyone else, so neither are you if you see them for minutes. And which children are on their way home from school at 6pm?

sailonsilvergirls · 09/03/2021 13:17

How dramatic. Really can't believe people can be arsed to get worked up over this.

user1487194234 · 09/03/2021 13:17

You need to take this up with your employer
Mine can do whatever is legal

N4ish · 09/03/2021 13:19

Seems strange to work in a shop and not want any customers in . . .

The owner may be able to insist on mask wearing in the shop, I'm not sure about the legalities around it.

DaisyHeadMaisey · 09/03/2021 13:19

What about all the adults buying booze and snacks on thier way home from work? Are they to go straight home too?

Limit the amount of school children in at a time, plenty of shops do this.

Lubiluxe · 09/03/2021 13:20

There is no rule against going in to shops. I suggest you control the amount of people in at a time.

GreenBalaclava · 09/03/2021 13:20

Are your mum and dad elderly or vulnerable OP? If so, haven't they had the vaccine?

TheQueef · 09/03/2021 13:20

Have you asked boss?
Can you wear a double mask?

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/03/2021 13:21

Oh no people buying things in a shop.
Whatever next.

plumpuddisnice · 09/03/2021 13:22

😂😂😂 I needed a laugh today

It's a shop. It sells things to customers, even those at the younger side of the spectrum.

Just limit the amount of people allowed in the shop at any one time.

GiveMeNovocain · 09/03/2021 13:25

If you let us know the shop I'll make sure my filthy child and I don't come near you.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 09/03/2021 13:27

Fucking hell I’ve heard it all now.

activitythree · 09/03/2021 13:29

So it's not your shop, you just work there and you are actively trying to avoid business in the owners behalf Confused

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/03/2021 13:31

You do realise if people stop shopping there you'll be out of a job right?Confused

SpnBaby1967 · 09/03/2021 13:31

Stop the press.....customers use a shop!

Shocking.

GiveMeNovocain · 09/03/2021 13:32

Any other groups of people you'd like to keep away based on a shared characteristic?

Thunderpunt · 09/03/2021 13:35

By Covid-19 secure regulations all retailers have to publicise their capacity. As a small shop (OP described) your limit will probably be in single digits. OP what difference does it make if that limit is met with school children, middle aged men or old aged women? My son was delighted to be able to grab a bag of chips on the way to the station yesterday on his way home, and the lovely fish and chip shop owner was delighted to see him and his mates back again - so chucked in a couple of chicken wings!
If you don't enjoy serving customers OP maybe consider a career change. I for one won't be asking my son to 'come straight home'

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 09/03/2021 13:35

Please can you tell your aged parents not to come into the shop after they’ve collected their pension?
