It took them over a week from the appeal....after the test came back on 14th Feb - and they were on a flight - so they had a flight list. I genuinely think the police could have found them in a couple of hours!

I don't think that's correct @itsgettingwierd the person hadn't been anywhere, they said it was from surge testing and unless they made up a whole story about narrowing down the batch numbers on the tests and postal tracking it wasn't a case of simply looking at a passenger list Smile

Youmakemyheartgogiddyup · 05/03/2021 17:48

I was wondering if they would unmask them when they found the person.
I vaguely remember the first "super spreader" last year and was horrified on his behalf when he was plastered all over the press.

Anyone waiting for the "I was the mystery Brazilian variant person AMA" thread?

Quoting myself but strangely I think they might have just said on the news that the person had been overseas which is definitely not what was said earlier in the week so maybe it isn't quite as clear as it was suggested, hmm ...
StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2021 18:07

Yes they said recently returned from Brazil

@StealthPolarBear

Yes they said recently returned from Brazil
I guess it must have mis reported in some places.

I hope the person did do the full quarantine as they said, no one's going to admit to breaking the rules when the whole country watching though Grin

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2021 18:16

Yes they did actually say they'd quarantined. So I wonder how it spread.

Returns in disguise 🥸

VivaLeBeaver · 05/03/2021 18:30

So I think that’s all six who had it then had come back from Brazil if he did too.

I thought that was the 6th person they'd found to have the variant?

They'd been to Brazil like the others?

I didn't know they'd found it because it had spread Confused

Xenia · 05/03/2021 18:32

Yes he quarantined at home in Croydon.

By the way from Monday if you fly abroad from England you must fill in this form - www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-declaration-form-for-international-travel#travel-declaration-form

They don't know that it did spread, the surge testing is a precaution only. Person got flight, isolated, got poorly and had home PCR test sent, struggled to register it but carried on isolating. Got better. Heard on news details that suggested it could be them, called up and asked.

I think a backup home test registration process by phone would be useful. Beyond that, what exactly do you think anyone did wrong here?

ILookAtTheFloor · 05/03/2021 18:44

They didn't actually know it was an imported case, hence checking flights wouldn't have necessarily helped. It turned out to be though.

This thread has made me laugh Grin

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2021 19:08

Oh that makes sense thanks

That super spreader from Bolton @Youmakemyheartgogiddyup ? His actions left those of us in Bolton with extra ,extra restrictions so I don't feel sorry for him

TrainspottingWelsh · 05/03/2021 19:35

Rees Mogg hasn't been visible recently, but unlikely it's him because even covid would recognise when it's out mututated by the host. Anyway we know it's not a politician or Tory groupie or they'd be paving the way with talk of travelling to Brazil on parental instinct.

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2021 21:02

Love that, out-mutated by its host.
