Briefings full of useless drivel now

Every briefing now seems to be an excuse to pat themselves on the back.
Anybodyd think it was the Oscars with all the "I'd like to thank my ......." vom
Anybody else sick of them and think they should only have briefings when they're going to tell us something really important.?

Yes, agree. There's not that much to say now so there should only really be a briefing when there is.

I suppose I could stop watching.
But I seem to get sucked in somehow and that's one more hour out of my life!

I’ve not watched the since then end of lockdown one. Problem solved 😂

peak2021 · 05/03/2021 18:51

Now? Did you not see them before?

Buzzinwithbez · 05/03/2021 19:22

I've not watched since the one where they introduced track and trace and Matt Hancock managed to make it sound really sinister.

I'd been holding out for that as being the answer until then. Between that and Jenny harries saying people would know contact from test and trace would be genuine because they'd have a posh accent, I abandoned all hope.

ChameleonClara · 05/03/2021 19:26

We are in the 'pretend everything is under control' phase again.

The briefings are pointless in this bit. They are useful if/when we re-enter the 'oh dear we've complety fucked up' phase again.

When I cba to watch that is positive I think.

ChocOrange1 · 05/03/2021 19:27

They've always been pointless. Especially in that middle bit of the first lockdown when literally nothing was happening so they just announced how many people had died, looked all sad, then signed off.

Jenny Harries is amazing. She must be intelligent, but sounds so foolish. I think she's the star performer, especially with explaining why testing wasn't needed in richer nations and why Cheltenham etc were fine

They are piffle waffle. I've refused to watch them at all, posted pictures of my switched-off TV to social media etc. I just read the summary afterwards. Since Saint Boris said "squeeeeeeeeeeeeeze the brakes" in August, I have totally abandoned Radio 4 as well, where it was repeated ad nauseam.

Having said that, there's some reassurance in hearing the gov finally talking about public finances, having previously just waved and waved and waved the magic money tree.

I want to hear some ministers grovelling about the damage lockdown has caused to mental health, and THANKING us for the fucking monumental sacrifices we have made, instead of constantly trying to blame the public. Gibb told us "not one child will be disadvantaged as a result of the plandemic". (Oops, I meant pandemic.) Really? Did he fly on his unicorn to tell us that?
