What will life be like after lockdown?

The end of lockdown seems to be within sight, but I’ve got to the stage where I can’t remember what life was like before it. I’m desperate for it to end as just feel thoroughly miserable living the same life each day. But now I don’t even know what I’m looking forward to.
Obviously a hair cut and seeing loved ones, but most of my family live far away. We have nothing ‘booked’ for this year, no holidays, weddings, parties or anything on the horizon.
And although there will be the elation of ‘we’re free’, I think it will take a while before I feel like my happy self again. What do others think about the end of lockdown?

Personally I'll be going back to normal straightaway and I'll feel comfortable doing so - I'd do it tomorrow if I could.

Speaking to my colleagues though some people have seen how much money they have saved during lockdown and don't plan to go out as often.

I was never a party animal before but I think I will be our every night till September.

I feel the same. I'm comfortable going out of lockdown but I feel kind of institutionalized as if I've forgotten how to be normal! I'm assuming it will all come rushing back & that the diary will fill up.

I honestly think I'll be completely exhausted - a bit like when you go back to work with a newborn after maternity or other leave. You have to get back into the 'swing' of commuting, getting everyone up and ready in the morning, remembering all the school bits and pieces, scouts, having guests, going out... I haven't got up at 6 in months!

I'm really looking forward to it but also a little nervous!

I haven't saved any money in lockdown but will be going the other way - spending lots of money on going out/experiences rather than saving it.

It will come flooding back, believe me

In the summer last year - July and August - we were in an area with some of the lowest cases and therefore few restrictions. We went to pubs and cafes, went camping with a group of family (when we were allowed up to 30 outside), stayed in an air bnb with my parents, went to theme parks and beaches. It all felt really normal and you quickly slip back into normal habits. Little things like having table service or social distance from strangers don't really affect the experience.

Me too, I haven't saved really as I bought a house 8 months ago and I've been doing it up but I'll forgo that for a couple of months when lockdown ends so I can enjoy my freedom!

I'm worried that travel will become really expensive because there'll be enormous demand; I really want holidays back.

After this bit of lockdown in England will be a big change for parents/children and teachers and people in or with relatives in care homes. Also flasks must have sold out ready for sitting on a bench.

That’s as far ahead as I’m looking for the moment. I’m worried people won’t stick to that and if cases rise a lot it will be used an excuse to slow opening up. (Not saying I agree it should slow just that Sage will probably recommend).

I’m hoping as long as hospital admission and itu figures are ok and teachers well enough for schools to stay open it will be fine.

Jealous Grin

While the timeline for normality feels slow against the dramatic tumbling of rates, at least there's a but of adjustment time as life picks back up in stages.

Stage 1, skip joyfully out of the school gates on Monday trying not to whoop too loudly and disturb the younger year groups already in.

I will have to phase house guests back gradually until I can get to an IL level of tidy. Scuzzy friends first, then my family.

Monday morning it'll be a deep clean of the toilets so I get a joyous 5 fresh hours out of them Grin
