Work sheets and oak academy ?

Bit late in the day now but I just wanted to get some opinions. My children’s primary school have provided work sheets and emails directing us to oak academy lessons. No zoom lessons and their work sheets do not get marked. Zero feedback.

This is poor isn’t it?

To top it off we have been informed some classes might not go back at all next week as some staff members are awaiting test results.

Am I being unreasonable to feel so deflated with the school?

Only because you seem determined not to, I think.

Confused

I think children should have had access to decent online learning with safety nets in place for those who cannot engage with those provisions.

I'm over the moon that my kids benefitted from hard working teachers who had the foresight to make things manageable for their children.

I think it is nothing short of a disgrace that a teacher should think anything less is justifiable. Some of the excuses here are a shambles. Hurt feelings from a hypothetical WhatsApp group, ffs.

Yep, we agree.

We actually took the decision to move our children from their previous primary school to another one because of the dire provision in lockdown 1.
I raised it with the head, exec head and the governors and was basically told to go away and their school was outstanding and I didn't understand. The leadership also lied to governors about what had been going on' ( I used to hold a senior position in education so I really did understand pressures teachers were facing )
My primary children felt lost and abandoned during lockdown 1. Their experience this time round had been markedly different - schools both state, 10 mins apart, similar make up and size.

I know that schools were expected to do more this time round but most of the provision for new school they had in place in the first lockdown.

School provision has varied enormously and you're not unreasonable to be disappointed.

However, if you have a year 6 able mathematician, have you discovered the Parallelograms set by Simon Singh. They might give you son the fun and challenge he needs in maths and you don't have to do anything.

absolutelyknackeredcow · 05/03/2021 11:22

Should add that although we took the decision to move based on the best interests of our children and our children alone, we were not alone with three children from my eldest DC class making the move alone

BugsAndBeesAndBirdsAndButterfl · 05/03/2021 11:51

We havent changed school but had a similar difference between last year (lots of worksheets no interaction) and this year - very similar set up to yours. It's made a huge difference and has been fantastic. Ive emailed in to tell them so and hope everyone who has had a good experience this time does!

@BugsAndBeesAndBirdsAndButterfl - our old school has apparently improved its provision a bit but still nothing like our new school.
Also because of the way it was handled by the head and exec head we lost all trust in the leadership.
They apparently still spin gaslight the parents on the provision
