Pfizer or Oxford

Hi

I was wondering which vaccine centres use Pfizer and which one Oxford? I have a strong preference for Pfizer and my appointment was originally in a pharmacy in Ealing London. After I called and found out that they only do Oxford I rebooked but not sure if I will get Pfizer. They explained that most phamacies and community centres won't offer Pfizer as they don't have the storage facilities and Pfizer would most likely only be offered in Hospitals etc.

Any views on that? I am just curious if that is how it works?
Thank you!

I’d much rather have the Oxford ideally, as like others have said, it’s a tried and tested thing. However, I’m due to have my vaccine soon and will take whatever I’m given!

@minchinfin don't worry seem it's something to do with aborted foetuses (or not!) and catholics above!

When I had mine I asked whether they only did Pfizer there (gp hub in a sports stadium and everyone I knew that had been there had been given Pfizer) but she said the had done both it just depended on what arrived in the delivery, they didn't know in advance

Both vaccines are tried tested and licensed! And any additional vaccines in the future will also have gone through this process.

I had the Oxford vaccine last week. I’m so happy to have had it. I felt tired & achey for 2 days but now fine.

I had AZ this weekend, within 24 hours felt like I had really bad flu, very achy, couldnt get out of bed at all that day. A few hot sweats and then cold sweats and by day three I just have a tender itchy area where I had the jab. Colleagues had the same and didn’t feel ill at all, just had a heavy sore arm. Am grateful to be more protected than I was before I had it.

Remember how fucking lucky we are to have a good vaccine OP. The mass vaccination programme will be most effective by getting as many of us vaccinated as possible as quickie as possible - that way we it’s much harder for the virus to spread. So I really would urge you to take what you’re given - any faffing about slows the system down. Any of the vaccines should keep you well away from hospital.

I totally agree with this. I was chatting with my ex in Italy & he said the programme is not being rolled out nearly as quickly there & no idea when they’ll get theirs.

Another one here allergic to Penicillin and I had the Pfizer jab on Friday. All fine, just a sore arm that lasted till the day afterwards. Had at a big GP led hub.

Had the Oxford one beginning of February at the vaccination centre in Birmingham City Centre. Found out which one I was getting before they stuck the needle in! No side effects what so ever! Smile

Hi everyone, My DH was allergic to the Astra vaccine. Ongoing breathing & lung issues. In an out of hoz since Easter hols. Has anyone had the same reaction and have you had a second vaccine yet? Dr's saying if anything Pfizer for him in the future. All very worrying tbh. Admittingly he is allergic to Penicillin, tomatoes, bee strings, prawns, dust and pets (other then hammies - though he takes an antihistamine everyday for that). It is really getting him down as you can imagine.
