Hi. So I got a email to say my youngest had been in close contact with someone with Covid at nursery. A day before that my partner was poorly chills/hot/body aching/headache. We found out the " close contact" was maybe a week before my partner started getting poorly. It lasted 2 days maybe. Now I've woke up.. chest feeling so tight very horrible cough very dry and harsh at same time, hot and cold sweats banging headache and worst of all, my body is aching to the point where I haven't walked and my partner has just had to put me in the bath! My breathing isn't to the point where I can't breath but there's definitely a shortness of breath there. I took a Covid test yesterday and sent it off as me and eldest son has a coughs that was continuing a lot! DS has woke up today with sore throat. Anybody else has this and it NOT been Covid? I am petrified as I have two younger children in my house I don't want them to get it 😭

Did your partner not test and was nursery still being attended?

Mybabysmylife · 02/03/2021 17:39

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss oh god no , they told us a week after the " prolonged contact" so we have put a massive complaint in. We all have done a test partner and other children did it near week ago but the results didn't come back so they are re doing and got a courier pickings back up.:)

Sorry to hear you're feeling that bad but please remember, even if the younger children do catch it, they are very unlikely to have any bad symptoms, if any at all.

Take home remedies - paracetamol etc. Do you have an oximeter, then you can check your oxygen levels? Ring 119 if you're worried.

Am sure lots of posters who've experienced similar symptoms will be along shortly.

I hope your symptoms are gone very soon 💐

SharedLife · 02/03/2021 17:53

Thats exactly how I felt with it. 1 year old got a little rash on face and was lethargic, 12 year old had a very mild sore throat. Kids seem to be very resilient with it

Sparkletastic · 02/03/2021 17:56

The kids should be fine. Have you got plenty of paracetamol in?

Mybabysmylife · 02/03/2021 18:12

I have plenty of paracetamol in. I just feel so poorly it's unreal:(

You need some night nurse, it will help you get a good nights sleep which will help fight the virus. Feel better soon!

HolmeH · 02/03/2021 18:24

I felt dreadful. My two young children it was very mild. 3 year old was grumpy, irritable, tiniest bit snotty. 9 month old at the time had a streaming cold & minor fever for a couple hours. Both right as rain in 48 hours & bouncing off the walls gif the remaining isolation period. That was really fun 🥴

Just look after yourself & don’t worry about your kids. It’s an extremely mild illness for them at most unless there are any underlying vulnerabilities. Even then, most children have been removed from the shielding list as they really are not getting ill.

Pootle40 · 02/03/2021 18:28

Take this in the way it's intended as I would hope someone would say the same to me.

If you hadn't heard of COVID and you had these symptoms would you be worried?

If yes, seek medial advice
If no, rest, drink fluids and take painkillers

I hope you feel better soon.

notrub · 02/03/2021 18:32

"I have two younger children in my house I don't want them to get it"

Your kids are about 20x more likely to be struck and killed by lightning than become seriously ill with covid, so relax there.

BUT - remember they could be infected (probably are) and they may be infectious. Keep them away from grandma/grandpa (regardless of whether they've been vaccinated) for the next 2 weeks!

DayBath · 02/03/2021 18:37

Do you have a finger oxymeter? If not, send someone who isn't isolating out to get one from a chemist or order one next day delivery off Amazon. Only about £25 and incredibly useful for working out when you should go to hospital if required. Make sure you check your oxygen levels regularly with it and call for advice if they start to dip, it can happen very quickly.

Don't panic if they drop, many people just need some oxygen in hospital and fully recover if this happens.

Mybabysmylife · 02/03/2021 19:42

Thank you everyone I've isolated for 10 days due to nursery's asking for us to till the 7th but I will continue to isolate from the time I've been poorly extra 14 days

grammarwoes · 02/03/2021 19:48

Don't stress about the children - they are exceptionally unlikely to be seriously ill. If they get it, it would just be like a cold for a day or two.

For you, lots of rest, lots of fluids. Get a pulse oximeter to keep an eye on your oxygen levels (ask a friend to pick one up in Boots / supermarket or Amazon Prime). If you're worried at any time, seek medical advice as early intervention makes a big difference if it's needed.

Mybabysmylife · 02/03/2021 20:51

Thanks a lot @grammarwoes I will most definitely get a family member to grab one tommorow Thankyou everyone

Update: i have tested positive for Covid-19. My youngest had a runny nose quite wingy. Ordered everyone in the house a test apart from me and eldest. I tested positive eldest DIDNT. So now other 3 have symptoms we are waiting for there test now. Thanks every!

OP posts:
grammarwoes · 03/03/2021 18:20

Hope you all feel better soon. Could be worth repeating eldest's test if their symptoms started within the specified timescale. It's possible to get a false negative if the test wasn't done quite right.

Mybabysmylife · 03/03/2021 19:10

@grammarwoes hi. We all have to repeat due to just me having. And no-one else :)

Mybabysmylife · 06/03/2021 15:36

OP posts:
rosesarered321 · 06/03/2021 15:41

Oh sorry to hear this, have you got an oximeter to check your oxygen levels?

Mybabysmylife · 06/03/2021 15:43

@rosesarered321 no hun. I've tried all the places near me non have any

OP posts:
OrangeSamphire · 06/03/2021 15:49

OP you can get one on Amazon to arrive tomorrow if you order it now.

Tagagzjskva · 06/03/2021 15:50

You may be best to get some medical advice

If you are becoming more breathless, chest feel tight, feels like more work to breathe etc in addition to feeling dizzy/shaky then you could have low oxygen saturation’s
