1 year into the pandemic, my wife working in hospital on covid wards, I got a letter today, telling me I'm clinically extremely vulnerable and I need to stay at home!

I was never called forward for the vaccine, although I had my first does of the oxford vaccine yesterday and I'm work today because I feel rough as shit, it was my wife that organized it for me as she has been fully vaccinated!

I cant afford to be on SSP, we are already paying back 1 months rent we missed because my wife caught covid and because her manager fucked up I had to isolate for 1 month!

Dont really know what to do!

I'm 28 with type 1 diabetes

It’s only guidance, you don’t have to shield. Many people like you are not in a position to not work, work at home or be eligible for furlough, so are carrying on as normal. Hope you feel better, my DH was pretty rough for 24 after vaccine, but then ok.

If you feel safe continuing going to work as you have done for the past year, then that's what you do. As said above, it's only guidance.

"because her manager fucked up I had to isolate for 1 month!"

Trying to imagine how this happened?

@DavidsSchitt

"because her manager fucked up I had to isolate for 1 month!"

Trying to imagine how this happened?

Because her manager forced her to have a 2nd test done 2 weeks after her first test, shouldnt be tested early after having a positive test

That wouldn't mean that you had to isolate for a month though would it?

Shielding is only advice. I have been bombarded with shielding letter since March 2020 due to taking immune suppressive medication, but I have not done so. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been very careful and definitely there are things I wouldn’t do and situations I wouldn’t put myself in but I’ve left my house pretty much every day for one reason or another.
People who live with you are still expected to go to work & school, but apparently I shouldn’t even be going out into my own garden or putting my bins out (and yes that’s actually stated on gov shielding letters) so I’d say assess your own risk and do what you’re comfortable with x

I'm type 1 not shielding working with the public. Don't worry it's mostly based on where you live, have high a1c .

Postcode is really influential on the new shielding list. I got caught up in it too. At my current address I would shield, at our other address I wouldn’t need to.
