Did anyone only have mild symptoms?

I’m on day 4 and so far have only had very mild symptoms. Is this likely to be the calm before the storm? I’ve had a google and wish I hadn’t!
Is it common to have mild symptoms that stay mild? Thanks

Yes, very common.

There are also many completely asymptomatic cases.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 25/02/2021 15:55

Every single person I know who has had it, from my 21 year old niece to my 76 year old mum, had mild symptoms.

CheeseJalapenoBread · 25/02/2021 15:55

Every person I know who caught it had mild symptoms - ranging from none at all to bad cold/flu type symptoms to 7-14 days.

PuzzledObserver · 25/02/2021 15:56

Mine stayed mild (cough, tiredness, a bit of diarrhoea) for 14 days, really no change at all. Then I started getting better.

Lostinacloud · 25/02/2021 15:56

Yes, Me. I felt a bit under the weather for 3 days and had a headache for most of those 3 days, which was alleviated by paracetamol. Felt loads better on day 4 and would say I felt I’d completely got over it no more than a week later. No further ill effects or ongoing problems apart from a 2-3 week delay for my smell and taste to return to normal. Felt totally fine while I was waiting for those though.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 25/02/2021 15:56

Yes, but back in November so it wasn't one of the new strains I don't think.

WorriedNHSer · 25/02/2021 15:57

I think it’s really common to just have mild symptoms throughout, especially if you’re not in ant high risk group. It’s all very unpredictable though. I would advise plenty of rest (but not total bedrest!) and try to distract yourself. I think my nerves about it getting worse were one of the worst ‘symptoms’ I experienced.

The fewer symptoms you have initially the less likely you are to have symptoms that linger past the first few weeks according to the Zoe app research so if your symptoms are fairly mild now that bodes well for your swift recovery too.

girlsyearapart · 25/02/2021 16:00

Bit tired and couldn’t taste anything
I was like you op waiting to Get Really Ill but it never did
That was beginning November
Everyone I know who’ve had it more recently have been more ill

PullingAtTeeth · 25/02/2021 16:00

We all had it mildly in our family. We had the Kent strain (I know because I was part of a study) Sinus type headache, nausea and tiredness for 3-4 days (both able to continue working from home and looking after the children). Felt better completely after a week. Smell took a few weeks to return fully.
I’ve felt much worse with a cold plenty of times.
We are early 30s and fit and healthy though.

ChocOrange1 · 25/02/2021 16:42

Yes, the vast majority have mild symptoms which stay mild.

MoirasRoses · 25/02/2021 17:48

Yep, I’ve had worse colds.

A couple friends described theirs as flu like, really not so well for a few days but they felt unwell quite quickly..

My Granny died of covid (86) & she instantly had breathing issues, within hours of starting to feel unwell. But she also had a variety of other health issues including lung damage from smoking when younger.. her body just wasn’t strong enough to fight sadly ..

wasthataburp · 25/02/2021 17:53

Most people. As in 80%

Summerisneardontfear · 26/02/2021 09:07

My exH and his flatmate are positive and both have no symptoms

CrunchyCarrot · 26/02/2021 09:25

Yes very common. My DP only had a fever and fatigue, he was well again 3 days later.

annie987 · 26/02/2021 09:41

Thanks - all sounds very positive. (No pun intended!) You hear such horror stories about Covid, it’s nice to hear from the other side too.

Mild symptoms here too. I did feel a bit worse around day 8 but I just had to go back to bed for a few hours and that was the worst it got.

Mellonsprite · 26/02/2021 11:20

For me I got worse on day 6, started with bad diahorrea and the fluey joint achey shivery feeling got much worse and stayed bad until day 14. I never coughed or had high temperature though.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 26/02/2021 11:54

I’m fat (obese) and nearly 50. I had it very mildly last year. A slight temperature for two days then a feeble cough for about 4 months. My slim younger husband had it worse (he had Covid fingers and his fingernails fell off). He was exhausted for about 3 months afterwards and still can’t smell or taste things properly 9 months later. My slim 14 yr old (no underlying health conditions) was extremely unwell and one day off being hospitalised. My ten year old was totally fine.It seems very random.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 26/02/2021 11:57

I’m asthmatic and wouldn’t have known I had covid if it wasn’t for loss of taste/smell. Hopefully it’s the same for you OP Smile

WingingItSince1973 · 26/02/2021 12:15

Yes I did. In fact I wouldn't have known I had covid but I did a monthly test and was so shocked. The only thing is my fatigue from another condition became worse.

ColdBrightClearMorning · 26/02/2021 12:23

Yep. Only issue was lack of taste and smell, and one night of a bit of sweating in bed. That’s it. 5m DC was fine too, just a bit of a cough. Most people are absolutely fine, try not to worry!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 26/02/2021 12:43

I was 100% asymptomatic and I'm 60 and overweight. Only found out during a random test. I have worked in the NHS since 1980.

SpnBaby1967 · 26/02/2021 13:31

I just had a sore throat and tiredness. Day 5 was worst for tiredness & by day 10 I was totally back to normal
