Now just to be clear. I have no problems with either of my secondary/college aged kids getting tested. Neither are too keen but willing to do it.
I've just had an email from DD's college to let us know the details of the testing, maps and when they are due back.
The consent form requires me to sign to say they'll have it (ok with me), that if she tests positive then we all isolate (ok with me) and if she's a close contact of someone who tests positive then she doesn't need to isolate but will test for 7 days while still attending (erm so not ok).
I don't get why this is a thing in schools and colleges. If I'm at work and I'm a close contact then I have to isolate, if I go for exercise with my friend who tests positive then the app will beep and I have to isolate. I thought this was what test and trace were trying to do. Now we may have millions of secondary aged kids mingling in school, going on the bus and come 29th March can meet up with others outside. Most of DD's friends go to other colleges.
I'm so angry that they are so keen to get them back and aren't actually bothered about them actually having it. I can't see teachers being that pleased either.
My DD has 6 friends in her class. One tests positive. She goes home and the other 5 do too. With the new plan, my DD may not have contracted it from friend A who has now gone home but finally contracts it from friend B who wasn't isolating at home.
Is there something I'm missing.
