Newly Shielding - Is it ok to go out for exercise?

I have been advised to shield but really wanted to start running this week as I am trying to get healthier and for my mental health too. Does anyone still exercise but shield too? Thank you 😊

Shielding includes exercise and in any case it's only advice. I'm CEV and have been walking most days.

Yes, exercise is fine. You can even do it with one other person from outside your household!

I’ve also been newly identified as CEV and advised to shield. I’m ignoring it. The reason is that the list is of people identified as being statistically at high risk of being seriously ill with Covid - however, I have had Covid, and wasn’t seriously ill. While there are cases of people catching it a second time, ones in which someone is more ill the second time are few and far between. So, I’m hanging on to my trips to the shops for a bit of light relief from wfh and no socialising.

Yes, it’s very much encouraged now. Last March people who were shielding were told to not even go and put their bins out but now more is known about the transmission of covid.

I'm CEV and my shielding has involved a walk or C25k run. I asked people with my condition and the consensus was this was fine.

Thank you all, I will be going out for a run later 😊

DH exercised all through shielding last year. It was ridiculous to think that he was going to come to any harm walking or running in the countryside.

I’ve shielded since last year and followed the no outside exercise advice for 6 weeks until I cracked and my husband drove me to an empty car park so I could get away from the house, it was incredibly trying on the mental health. We walk a few times a week at least now, generally during quiet times, although the expression that’s come into force is ‘time for your walk’ so I have checked a few times I’ve not mutated into a dog.

I started behind front door, and in back garden for first eight weeks, then I started walking round the village and environs
