Hotels question

PicsInRed · 22/02/2021 20:35

If holiday lets and camp grounds and museums etc are allowed from April 12 and therefore holidays clearly legally permitted from that date...and hotels are "allowed" to open from May (but many are actually already open today)...

The question is: if a hotel is already open today, can I book to stay there from April 12 and that's a "legal" holiday?

12th April you can go on holiday but only with your own household.

PatriciaHolm · 22/02/2021 20:39

No, not a hotel for a holiday; the guidance, for accommodation for holidays from April 12 is only for

"Overnight stays away from home in this country will be permitted and self-contained accommodation - those that do not require shared use of bathing, entry/exit, catering or sleeping facilities - can also reopen, though must only be used by members of the same household."

So you could book a self contained apartmennt/airbnb etc, but not a hotel.

That's so shit. Can't even book a serviced apartment then - same entry/exit and halls!

How do people legitimately justify staying in a hotel right now? What's "legal"?

Essential purposes are legal e.g. work

southeastdweller · 22/02/2021 20:46

Surely a serviced apartment counts as OK as you and your guests wouldn't be sharing facilities with anyone?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/02/2021 20:46

You can only stay in hotels for work purposes or compassionate reasons like attending a funeral.

PicsInRed · 22/02/2021 20:53

I can share an entry/exit to a museum, but not a hotel. I get the legality, but it's so silly.

Shared entry/exit and halls, so no. Silly, eh?

Indoor Museums aren't until May 17 either.

Yeah, it was 12 April and they backtracked to 17 May inside an hour.

Guess that's my own "cheer up love" holiday plans fucked then. Serves me right for allowing myself 5 minutes of optimism. 🤣
