Why only 140k vaccines?

Or thereabouts

That's way down on the almost 500k of recent days

Mondays always under report - they'll catch up on the reporting tomorrow and Wednesday.

NannyElle · 22/02/2021 18:26

It's usually around 200k on a Monday so lower than usual but not that much lower. Only gets near 500k weds-fri usually

Also supply - this last few days/early this week was always going to be low as the scheduled delivery from AZ was low last week (and week of 14 March) - back up again during this week and next.

@PatriciaHolm
Sorry for asking this but do you work in the vaccination field?

(I am sorry for asking)

Chloemol · 22/02/2021 18:49

Pfizer already said there would be issues over the next two weeks as they do some changes to their factory

oh no! I've just seen the (briefly available) vaccine delivery schedule for Scotland, which is widely thought to be the same in pattern for England.

beckypv · 22/02/2021 18:51

I was thinking the same. Last Monday 230k was reported and previously the mondays have been in the high 200k. Given this is the reporting for Sunday jabs (when you’d think more people are available to get jabbed) I hope there hasn’t been a slowing of capacity due to vaccinators working on Sundays

ASchuylerSister · 22/02/2021 18:55

My friend went to a large vaccination centre last week and it was dead.

They had plenty of supply (my friend asked) and lots of staff - just not many patients!

I wish you could queue up outside a vaccination centre and if there’s a no show or no one booked into an appointment slot, they call someone in from the chancer queue for a jab.

I think supply is a major concern going forward so I was sort of hoping that your post was your non-factual opinion on the topic.

Clearly your post is based in fact (not always a given on any forum)

Thanks!!

Motorina · 22/02/2021 22:34

As others have said, there has been an expected dip in supply. However, my uninformed impression is there's also an issue with the vaccine hubs. Group 6 (people who are CV) can't book into them. Group 5 (65+) can book in with them, but would rather not travel, and so are waiting for their GP to call. Leaving too many patients for the GP service, and too few for the hubs.

I'd suggest that a solution is for the GP lists to talk to the hub lists, so group 6 people can be invited there. But I don't know how much of a headache that is in real life.

Whilst there are so many things wrong with the USA, I like the way that the public are provided with the daily information regarding vaccinations.

Well, we get most of that -

I've volunteered at a large vaccination centre for the past few weekends. Up until hitting the government's target we were working 13 hours shifts. Over the weekend I have been in a centre with a fully stocked fridge and more staff than patients.

I live in a different county to where I've volunteered and the story is the same.

The rumour is that the CCG has throttled patient appointments at the large centres, so their GPS can do the vaccines and take the payment. (The board of the CCG is strikingly similar to the list of partners in the large GP practice which have merged all the local practices over the past 5 years)

I hope this rumour is not true and there is an innocent explanation, but something feels very wrong

Shock

Surely it can’t be long before something is done about it, with the government and whole country reliant on the vaccine progress to get out of lockdown.

StarCat2020 · 22/02/2021 23:21

Sorry I wasn't clear about what I meant.

Whilst we get information about the vaccinations themselves, we don't get clear information about current vaccine stocks.

In fact as you posted earlier, the Scottish document regarding vaccine supplies have since been removed from public view.

time4anothername · 22/02/2021 23:27

something has gone wrong as I knew people eligble to book via the Central link (social care) who went on on Saturday and got in for Sunday morning. I presume it is because Group 6 cannot book via the national link even though very many have not yet been contacted by the GPs

Just seen that the www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ link has lowered the age to 64 from 65 for self booking and added people who would be eligble for carer's allowance.

PatriciaHolm · 22/02/2021 23:35

I believe the reason given for not releasing the data was commercial sensitivity around the volumes for the UK vs going to the EU, and I can believe there is some truth in that tbh.

CandidaDoyle · 22/02/2021 23:38

@chocolo - I've contacted our MP to ask him to ask more questions. I expected him to reply to say there was a problem with vaccine supply, which wouldn't be great, but I could accept. However, his response did seem to confirm the issue was with the CCG.

If this is correct the situation is unforgivable. It appears that the large vaccination had the resources to do thousands of jabs last week yet largely twiddled thumbs. The large centers should be given the authority to book in the next in line groups if the CCGs won't/can't supply the patients.

The last thing we need is hoards of people gathering around a vaccination centre, getting in the way of the more vulnerable people turning up for their jabs and clogging up the available parking spaces.
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/02/2021 23:43

There definitely should have been a Waitlist Website for people of all ages.

Register using your postcode and how many miles you can travel at very short notice and a text pops through if a vaccine is going unused that day at a centre nearby. Especially with a large portion of employees working from home possibly increases their ability to nip to a local pharmacist etc.

Funny, it says that on the front page, then you go through the steps and get rejected when you say you're not a front line health care worker.
NewScone · 22/02/2021 23:57

The Welsh prime minister (sorry I forget official title) said theirs was going to slow down a bit as the manufacturer was increasing capacity so it could then go faster. This was a week or so ago on the news.

Chocolo · 23/02/2021 12:33

That’s really shocking @CandidaDoyle Good on you for writing to your MP and doing something about it.

I hope the press get hold of this news, it’s outrageous.
