Mild asthma - timing for vaccine in Scotland

Just found out a relative of mine (in Scotland) has been offered the vaccine and due to get it tomorrow. He's 47, not a key worker and while he's a bit overweight and has mild asthma (brought on by animal allergies) as far as I was aware he is otherwise healthy, so while it's brilliant he's getting the vaccine, I'm now worried about him as I'm worried he must have a serious underlying health issue that I don't know about - or am I panicking for nothing - are people with mild asthma being offered the vaccine routinely now? Thanks

You need to have been hospitalised in the past or had a certain amount of steroids.

Not in Scotland, but my relative is 33, asthmatic and has a high BMI. He is getting his jab this week.

@kimlo that's what I thought - i am unaware of either being the case. I just hope he's ok, I was just a bit shocked when I heard as he hasn't been shielding or anything and his asthma is definitely mild to moderate, not severe.
I should say I don't begrudge him the vaccine - if he qualifies then great, I am just concerned for him, and don't know how to ask him as I feel either hospitalisation or major steroid use would be a big thing to keep from me (it's my older brother, I should probably have said that originally)

@thenightsky when you say high BMI is that overweight or obese? He's def overweight, but not massively so...
