Do you think that covid will be seasonal?

I guess so, I’m not a medical professional, but I believe that is what Chris Whitby and others are expecting.

Not sure it is as seasonal as people say... Manaus in Brazil has just had that huge outbreak in January, right in the middle of their summer.

But there may be other factors that make many illnesses seasonal in the UK as we naturally spend more time indoors in the winter and gather in small spaces with poor ventilation where viruses can spread.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 22/02/2021 09:18

Didn't Spain have a surge at the end of last summer?

SexTrainGlue · 22/02/2021 09:22

Maybe.

It does seem to have an affinity to the winter virus season. But just like flu, it clearly can emerge off season

Probably because the virus is out there all the time, but conditions for transmission are more favourable in winter because people behave differently then. Indoors, worse ventilation etc

It May become seasonal in the future, that’s what’s expected. There’s no evidence that it is seasonal yet though.

No expert but it makes sense that once everyone is vaccinated, the deaths will come right down and we’ll learn to live with Covid just like we do the flu, which tends to be seasonal.
