My family live 150 miles away, so I’m just wondering if there has been any update on the stay local message leaked to the media re: the roadmap?
I know it says you can meet a household outdoors but that’s no good to me, unlsss we can travel out of area.

According to the newspapers stay local and stay at home lift on 29th March.

Lubiluxe · 22/02/2021 07:14

Same here. Following with interest.

Oh I really hope this is true. Thank you for giving me a bit of hope.

We'll find out for sure in a few hours, don't rely on any leaked rumours. Do you to arrange something this morning?

joystir59 · 22/02/2021 07:18

I'm travelling to a wedding down south and will visit family en route beginning April. I am.not waiting for permission to do either.

Solasum · 22/02/2021 07:18

Some suggestion that stay local will lift but overnights still not permitted. Which if true means I still won’t be able to visit my parents. :(

I think it is natural to be curious when we see things in the media. If this weren't the case, they wouldn't do it. No need for the comment.

This is the one thing which will make the most difference to my life. Just being able to drive somewhere else to walk the dogs! March 29th seems an age away.

Lubiluxe · 22/02/2021 07:39

Bbc saying it will be lifted.

Quite. We will be able to get to see family as it’s only a 2 h drive each way, but what I’d really like to be able to do is hire a cottage in their county so we could see all four families at leisure over a few days. This seems to me to be a lower risk option with much less driving about.

By the end of March, 10/12 of us will have already had our first vaccines more than 3 weeks previously anyway, and 4 of us will have had our second dose.

Is it likely that England will lift the travel restrictions completely? Or just give a bit more breathing space?

Things I have read will be lifting completely but no overnights.
Thecoppertree · 22/02/2021 09:37

@lubiluxe Do we have any idea when overnights will be permitted?

There are no travel restrictions in law.

If they get "lifted", it will just be a change in messaging.

BobsDouble · 22/02/2021 09:42

From what has been leaked, no need to stay local after 29th March but no inside visits or overnight stays at that point.

Lubiluxe · 22/02/2021 09:46

This is what it says under mid May: 'The phase may also see families allowed to travel for short breaks around the UK, though with restrictions on household mixing.'

And then.. this is phase four but no date i can see... A further relaxation of social contact, likely to include some mixing indoors.

The health secretary, Matt Hancock, has said he is optimistic about summer holidays being permitted in the UK, so June could see restrictions lifted on the tourism sector.

I am going to visit my mother next month - she is over 150 miles away but as she lives alone and is over 80 it comes under the care exemption. Plus the fact she's not in a support bubble with anyone so as long as she doesn't go into anyone's house for 10 days beforehand, we're good anyway.
