Having covid vaccine next week, what side effects should I expect and how bad?

I've been called for my vaccine and I'm going to have it but wondering about side effects and wanted to know if there was anything that helped so I can make sure I have it in advance. I know the side effects will be much less than having covid but I've heard a few horror stories. I am getting the jab because I'm a carer so I can't afford to recline on the sofa and watch box sets like a lot of people I know did for the first 2 days afterwards. Can someone tell me that either I'll be fine or I just need to take a magic combination of drugs and all will be well.

Mum, dad and I had the az a fortnight ago, mum had a headache, I had like a flu feeling and was rough for a day, mum and I both had sore arms, dad was absolutely fine. I took paracetamol and drank lots of water which seemed to help. Good luck.

I know of 3 people who have had the first jab neither has had covid. Two had the Pfizer, one had the Oxford, no side effects at all for either.

My dad had it few weeks before mum and had aches and pains, high temp & headache, mum had it last week, had it in right arm - was fine & was painting and using her arm so she’s not sure if that’s why or not but I think it’s just luck if you’re fine or not really

I was fine, arm was sore and I was tired and a little bit fluey for a day. Easily managed with paracetamol and was able to carry on as normal.
