..does that mean it's working. Bloody hope so. I've never had adverse reactions (I've travelled lots so had all the UK vaccs plus all the travel ones) but currently in bed feeling really quite lousy. Had horrendous night and not moved all day.

Maybe, maybe not, could be a coincidence and not related to the vaccine or could work perfectly with no side effects at all.

VinylDetective · 21/02/2021 17:04

I felt like that the day after. I was back to normal with a sore arm the following day.

Whichjab · 21/02/2021 17:06

My swollen arm is definitely related, I can't even lift it up or have clothes touching it. I'm imagining a little war going on in my arm between the vaccination and my immune system.

I felt very unwell for over a week, but I did have COVID 6 weeks beforehand. Still glad I had the vaccination.

Ha! That's less reassuring! I'm glad too, I'm sure covid would be worse.

If a person suffers zero side effects - it does not mean that it isn't working/hasn't worked, let's just put this here before anyone starts to panic. K!?

But essentially your immune system is being kicked into action with the 'threat' of this foreign body and making anti bodies to 'recognise' that certain foreign body next time and fight it off quickly. It's prioritising making that anti bodies and your normal functions are suffering slightly.

That's my basic understanding off it and I'm sure they'll be an expert along in a mo......

Sorry wasn't meaning to scare anyone else, just feeling sorry for myself and trying to put a positive spin on it.

About the arm, is it my immune system fighting it there or is it just the needle in muscle that has caused it?

Worst reaction I ever had was Typhoid jab. It felt like I had typhoid!

What about the opposite - does no reaction mean it's not working?

Whichjab · 21/02/2021 17:44

Bare my dh said the same but I don't remember it being bad. No not the opposite, I'm just wallowing.

I think it’s the immune response. My arm was very painful, and then the second morning it was completely fine without even the slightest tenderness.

The lack of reaction does not mean you haven’t developed antibodies, it’s just that some people’s bodies have an over-dramatic response.

CovidCraziness · 21/02/2021 17:52

I felt lousy after mine. Really really horrible - like horrendous flu. Good thing was, it only lasted about 36 hours, then I was fine! :) Hang in there, you'll hopefully be ok tomorrow x

anditgoeson · 21/02/2021 17:56

OP i had mine this afternoon, when did you start feeling rubbish? My arm doesn't really hurt to be honest but they did tell me it might and that I might feel a bit 'fluey'.

Had it at 9 felt fine. Started feelings a bit odd about 12 hours later and then has a rough night and felt rubbish all day (I'm not one to be ill or stay in bed or for that matter one that misses meals) just beginning to feel a bit better although headache is kicking in now.

You're a protein spike factory! Congratulations. Feeling rubbish will pass, to be replaced by a huge feeling of relief.

anditgoeson · 21/02/2021 19:28

@Whichjab thanks for getting back to me. I hope you're feeling better soon.

FuzzyPuffling · 21/02/2021 19:35

I had my vaccination yesterday morning and I feel rough. My temperature is higher than it was yesterday, I can't stay awake and I feel dizzy and hurt all over. I've been unable to shift off the sofa all day and am now back in bed. I really hope I feel better tomorrow.

I put it down to my auto immune condition that goes into panic mode at the first hint of a drug or vaccination.

The information leaflet details 1 in every 10 will suffer side effects. I've never had side effects from any jab bit had every side effect with the covid jab. I don't think it's a sign the vaccine has worked or not. The only way to know of vaccine works is to get covid and see how I'll you end up being. The vaccine to my understanding reduces symptoms and reduces need to go to hospital, it doesn't reduce chances of you getting covid or spreading covid
Angel2702 · 21/02/2021 19:55

I had fully planned a quiet day feeling rough. I’ve had zero reaction can’t even see injection site, no sore arm nothing. If I hadn’t seen the needle go in I wouldn’t think I’d had it, certainly better than this year’s flu jab. I hope this doesn’t mean it isn’t working.

Good grief - why are people still posting this nonsense? It’s been all over the news that the Pfizer vaccine at least is very effective in this respect.

No it’s most likely to be working just fine. Some people have an overly dramatic and attention seeking immune response (me 🙄) but most people don’t have noticeable side effects according to all the trial data.
