When do you think will we be able to travel within the UK?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this? It's a double edge sword we want to keep everyone safe and healthy and get covid under control but equally, our mental health is suffering greatly not being able to visit relatives or friends or even just get out of our own 4 walls.

@Augustwhatacrapname

Staycation means stay at home not holiday in the UK
This is incorrect. It has 2 meanings. Google it.

Which, as many people never have holidays outside their home country, always struck me as a bit odd.

Most people in the USA would fall into category.

No it doesn't according to the Oxford dictionary.

I'm hoping by April as we have a cottage booked but I'm fully expecting that this won't happen. Otherwise summer at a guess.

Coffeeandaworry · 21/02/2021 13:18

I have a UK holiday in a lodge park booked for the end of april. So desperate for it after a winter of frontline NHS. I don't think it will happen but my god, I need it.

I think given in Scotland even a break away from home is discouraged (may even be illegal) the best Boris can come up with is a stay in England message for Easter. That at least would be something.

nonono1 · 21/02/2021 13:45

No idea, but I’m planning to see my parents at Easter whatever happens.

Is there anything about it in the ‘leaked’ roadmap?

This is what the BBC is saying:

Phase one, part one (from 8 March) - All schools expected to open with outdoor after-school sports and activities allowed. Recreation in a public space - such as a park - could be allowed between two people, meaning they would be allowed to sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic
Phase one, part two (from 29 March) - Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households are expected be allowed, including in private gardens. Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts could reopen and organised adult and children's sport, such as grassroots football, could also return
Although schools are set to reopen to all pupils on 8 March, it is thought a few days' flexibility may be built in to allow measures like testing to be put in place.
Also on 8 March, new rules will allow each care home resident in England to have one regular visitor, who they can hold hands with.
And from 29 March it is also understood that people will once again be able to travel out of their areas - although guidance will likely still recommend staying local, and overnight stays will not be permitted.

So this would suggest from 29 March we would be able to meet in groups of six, travel, but not stay overnight.

June / July I expect.

A staycation is staying in your house and having days out. A holiday in the UK is still a holiday. Or my children have never had a holiday Hmm.
