Do anyone know what time he is doing the announcement on Monday?

Here is the outline from the Telegraph

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/02/20/mapping-route-will-take-us-lockdown/

First step – Mar 8
From Mar 8, schools will reopen fully, despite widespread resistance from nine of the country’s teaching unions, who have called for a staggered return for secondaries.

... schools argue the requirement to test all pupils when they first return makes the timeframe logistically difficult,...

At the same time, care home visits indoors will resume, with residents able to hold hands with an individual friend or relative, subject to testing and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

two people will be able to socialise outdoors, such as for a coffee or picnic.

Later inf the first phase, these restrictions could ease further to allow two different households to meet in gardens or parks over Easter.

Outdoor sports, such as golf and tennis, are also expected to return at a date between Mar 8 and Easter, with a maximum of two people.

? “rule of six” might come in again

?self-catered holiday lets and hotels could be allowed to reopen for the Easter weekend but unlikely

Second step – Early April
non-essential retail due to reopen.

University campuses could also be open

A limited reopening of domestic holidays, with people limited to self-catering holidays within their own household possible

By Apr 15, plan is to offer a first Covid-19 jab to 32 million people aged over 50

Possible that by the end of April hospitality venues begin to reopen outdoors,

Third step – Mid May
By mid-May, pubs and restaurants could open indoors, maybe after 10pm

Hairdressers may open April-May??

Beauticians and other close contact services may well reopen

Fourth step – June
more travel within the UK could be possible if case numbers reach the lows seen last summer.

? fuller reopening of the hospitality and hotel sectors.

indoor mixing between households may resume.

July and beyond
As the vaccination programme reaches its final stage, hopefully infection rates will have returned to the levels seen last summer.

At this point, greater relaxations for indoor mixing are likely,?? how

Social distancing . the one-metre plus rule and wearing masks in indoor public spaces and on public transport, are still expected to remain in place until the entire population is vaccinated.

there is still considerable concern over foreign variants.

but foreign holidays could be possible by the summer,

TBH, that's the only point of interest for me and I don't even care about the socialising bit. I just want to be able to take coffee and a book and go and sit in a park, and when the weather improves a bit, I'll be doing that whether it's legal or not. I genuinely don't care about the rest of it any more.

Katie517 · 21/02/2021 08:36

Can’t believe people are getting excited about being told they can now sit down in the park rather than just walk around it! After 2 months of lockdowns and a leading vaccination program this is what we might get?!?Angry

MrBullinaChinaShop · 21/02/2021 08:46

I can’t believe anyone has been not sitting on benches. I take my children to the park every day. What difference does it make if I sit on the bench for an hour watching them play, or stand?
You’re right though @Katie517. 2 months of not seeing family, no education for our children, many not being able to earn a living and people are rejoicing that we can sit on a bench.

herecomesthsun · 21/02/2021 08:48

If we are trying to get schools back, with the more infectious variants going round, then everything else has to go very slowly, and even then, there might be too much of an increase in infections.

Katie517 · 21/02/2021 08:51

@MrBullinaChinaShop it’s scary isn’t it? But so many people have bought into following the rules blindly even if they make no difference or sense.

I am also a regular bench sitter, after my run yesterday I even drank my water on a bench Hmm so the new “relaxation” to the rules will make little difference to those that have been sitting down anyway. Oh well we will have to wait for Easter when maybe we will be told we can sit down with 2 people rather than one....

'Excited' is your word, not mine.

But 15m people re vaccinated now and we’re heading into spring- it won’t be like before
wanderings · 21/02/2021 09:18

And as someone said on another thread, people will be saying "we're lucky that we'll be allowed see our families again".
"Lucky." "Allowed to see our familes."
LUCKY.
What have we come to as a society, when it's LUCKY whether or not we're ALLOWED to meet our OWN FAMILIES?!

herecomesthsun · 21/02/2021 09:24

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

1 that only leaves over 40m people who haven't been vaccinated then. and

  1. the virus spread very happily in mid March last year.
herecomesthsun · 21/02/2021 09:25

sorry over 50m million unvaccinated. Mind you, a minority of them will have antibodies, and some protection, at least temporarily, as were previously infected.

Yes 40m the majority of which aren’t high risk etc... they won’t even all be vaccinated, the up tale amongst younger people will be far lower.

Ok it spread- what we aiming for, a lower r rate, lower number of hospital admissions- stop moving the goal posts

SuperbGorgonzola · 21/02/2021 09:29

I would have liked to see an earlier reopening of hair and beauty services. These are two female dominated industries consisting of lots of small businesses.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/02/2021 09:31

Unfortunately everyone has a diff idea of what “good” would be

Good would be getting to the hairdressers before I have 7 inches of ugly roots and split ends up to my eyebrows Grin

I haven't seen any of my friends or family since last February and live alone so good would also be before I go stark raving mad.

Small problems compared to some people though.

People are already doing what they want ourdoors anyway? You only need to go to a park or a seafront to see groups of people everywhere.

Not to pick, actually interested- why didn’t you see any over the summer months?

Probably because the lockdown zealots of Mumsnet were bleating that is was much too dangerous to do so, even then, saying "hang in there until restrictions are completely over", as Saint Boris assured us at the time that it would be "normalish by Christmas".

Beaniecats · 21/02/2021 10:01

Not much change. Won't be watching

BrownEyedBlonde · 21/02/2021 10:41

On a really vain pov I’m so pleased I managed to get my hair highlighted in December, by the time April/May comes along I’ll have my own, home grown balayage Grin

On a more serious note, I’m hoping the schools will have a phased return, it makes no sense to open up fully yet. Easter is early this year, we might still even have snow, we’ll all possibly still be huddled inside, I would love to have a break somewhere but with limited places open, no pubs/restaurants etc, it really doesn’t appeal.
Phase secondary schools back after Easter, depending on numbers.

Just my own musings.

User133847 · 21/02/2021 10:51

Summer just feels to me like a repeat of last year. July and August will feel a bit more normal and people (at least the vaccinated) will go off on their holidays.

Nobody can say now, but the key is going to be what happens over autumn and winter.
