I’ve just read a guardian article stating that two households may be permitted to mix outdoors by Easter. But it goes on to say that the ‘stay local’ message might still be present.
All my family and friends live 150 miles away from me. I only have my partner here. We moved here due to his work a few years ago. I have a couple of acquaintances here, but no one I can really meet up with to be honest.
So nothing will change for me before Easter? I’m starting to feel like there’s no point in going on...I miss my family so much, my parents aren’t getting any younger and I was really optimistic that I’d get to see them at Easter, particularly as they should have both had the first jab by that point.

Does anyone think the stay local message might be lifted by Easter?

Yes I imagine so. Even more people will be vaccinated by then too.

I'm not prepared to wait until after Easter tbh.
Govt have messed up on so many different things. Not going to continue paying the price for that.
Enough is enough.

I’m in a very similar situation. Moved to our area a few years ago for my DH’s work. I never bothered to make friends here because I did not see it necessary, as I’m not hugely social and I always travelled to meet my friends and family. I have only seen my DD twice since March. I feel so isolated. I thought the vaccinations would be our path out of all this. I still see no light at the end of the tunnel.
My DH works from home. I don’t go out to work, so it feels my home has turned into an office. Thankfully we have a great relationship, but he works 24/7 because his team works in different time zones. Also because of the nature of his business a lot have been furloughed or made redundant. It’s all so shit!

Just to add in case people are wondering the reason I only saw my DD twice. She is a self employed hairdresser. Even though she paid £22k in tax previous tax year she fell through a gap to get furlough. So as soon as she could work she worked 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm to avoid losing her home.

If you need support for mental health reasons then you can mix I believe?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 20/02/2021 15:13

I live that distance from my family too. We cancelled all plans to see them at Christmas, so it’s been months and months now.

I will be seeing them at Easter.

Remmy123 · 20/02/2021 15:13

Just get in the car and drive to see them

Stay local is guidance at the moment and not law. I assume this will also be the case once lockdown eases and the stay at home message is dropped. There will be nothing legally preventing you from travelling, so if you are able to weigh up the risks and your families are vaccinated or not vulnerable then go ahead. My in-laws are about 150 miles away, we will be going to see them for Easter.

My parents live in SE Asia. Am in UK. Spent a lot of today wondering when I will ever see them again.
