I know this is probably a touchy subject. I have just had a call up to book a vaccination. I am scared, really scared. So many what if's just need someone to say its all ok

You will be fine, I was scared too if I'm honest and I'm giving vaccines. Our centre does hundreds a day. Having the vaccine is all of us doing our bit.

LilyPond2 · 19/02/2021 20:52

I personally know eight people who have been vaccinated and all have been fine. Some had mild, short lived side effects. Some had no side effects. What is it that you're scared of?

Christmasfairy2020 · 19/02/2021 20:57

I had it last week. Sat I felt flu like. Paracetamol and I was fine. No issues now

Only on MN do I read about the jab making anyone feel rough afterwards.

All the people I know in real life who had the jab (dozens) say it was a nothing event & nothing afterwards, too.

OP, I understand your apprehension, what I would say though is that the potential scenarios if you don't take the vaccination, far outweigh any issues you might experience very short term and it's more likely than not, that everything will be fine.

I felt a bit queasy afterwards but nothing significant. I know tens of people of all ages who've been vaccinated since December and no one has had any problems.

I feel really reassured now that I am less likely to have serious complications if I catch Covid, and am hopeful that I'm less likely to catch it and transmit it to my unvaccinated husband. You won't regret it op.

Thank you. So nice to read positive things. I am not sure why it scares me but it does. Thank you

I had mine on Tuesday, AZ, no ill effects at all, not even a sore arm.

Norwester · 20/02/2021 07:13

You will feel so relieved to know that Covid will no longer make you very ill even if you do catch it. Totally worth it!!

It scares you because you're a human! New things are not easy and tbh the existence of a vaccine is proof of how serious this crisis has been and all that we have been through. If covid had not been so serious, the money would not have been made available and therefore the vaccine wouldn't even exist.

Even though the vaccine is amazing it is also tinged with sadness, because we have all been through a terrible time.

Apparently many people vomit when they have the vaccine - nothing physical, simply because it is a big watershed moment in this crazy year.

I know that some people are very anti-vaccine. My personal view on this is that a lot of people deal with fear by pretending they are not scared. You only take a vaccine if you think covid is serious. If covid is serious it is scary. If you can't handle fear - it is easier to invent a vaccine conspiracy theory than deal with your real fear of death or illness.

Humans are complicated. Accept your feelings. Read the science and listen to the wisest people around - not the flakes on Facebooks.

A couple of family members have had it. Sore arm and a bit tired was all they had after.
