Any posters from the original 'My lungs' thread at the start still experiencing lung pain?

mylovelydd · 18/02/2021 17:09

I caught a mild case of the virus in March and was on a thread with lots of lovely posters who also had it. I think I got off lightly because some of the posters were very ill.
At the time my right lung felt like it was burning and that has continued almost constantly throughout the year. It has improved but still there.
Because hospitals/Drs etc were a no-go I haven't spoken to my GP because I thought it would resolve itself.
I can remember checking on the thread to see how people were getting on and some were going for scans/xrays to check their lungs but I didn't see what the outcome was.
To be honest I am starting to get concerned that I need to get checked out but not really relishing the idea of GP/Hospital at the moment and I don't even know if they would send me for one when so many people need treatment.
I wondered if anyone is still suffering with this a year on almost like me and if they have been checked out what were they told?

Yes I had suspected Covid last March (no testing then!) and still have waves of heavy feeling chest and a sporadic scratch in my throat that causes me to cough. Until recently I also had repeated feelings of a dry sinus and sore throat that would last for a few days then go.
I haven’t had any investigations but do wonder if I should contact GP

mylovelydd · 18/02/2021 17:57

Hi Patty I'm so sorry you are going through this too. Flowers
It's awful to still be struggling on and it seems to come and go (or old symptoms seem to flare up)
I believe I caught it again last August and lost my sense of smell that time but I recognised the way my body felt from the first time and feeling like I was boiling from the inside out/diarrhea etc. I have also had the sinus thing too. Sad

What happened to the 2 week recovery we were promised?Hmm

My lung is the thing I worry about because this virus is new and nobody knows the long term effects and I'm scared of what investigations will show but I also know I probably need to get checked out so I have finally gone on my GP website who has an "Ask My GP" bit where you can ask questions and they will triage it.
I've looked all over the Coronavirus section to see what the outcome of the scans/xrays that posters were having but I can't find it.

I had it last March and have been left with a minor cough and my lungs were burning during the cold weather, but no heaviness or difficulty breathing.

Runningshorts · 18/02/2021 18:46

Following this with interest. I wasn't on the original threads but I was ill last March with burning lungs, temp and breathing difficulty. I've more or less recovered over time (took ages) but can still often feel burning lungs. Every now and then I have a little trouble breathing and cough up clear mucus for a couple of days, then it goes away again. I had a chest X ray a few months ago, during a period of bad symptoms, and it came back clear.

mylovelydd · 18/02/2021 19:00

Sounds like our symptoms are very similar.

@bellropes do you get that burning feeling any other time or was it just when it was cold weather (not that that isn't bad enough! It's horrible)

@Runningshorts I'm glad your X-ray came back clear. Did the Dr say anything to you about any treatment going forward or was it more of a 'nothing to see so just get on with it'?
I hope this will heal eventually but I didn't expect to be almost a year down the line and still suffering

OP it's definitely worth you getting checked out. See what they say.
At my follow up call, after the chest X ray, the doctor suggested I take an antihistamine and continue with an inhaler as needed. I am feeling much better in recent months but don't know whether it's anything I've done or just the time that's passed! Although I'm doing fine, exercise is still difficult for me.

I was ill in March. Left with burning lungs and shortness of breath. I had an xray in the summer that was clear. My GP referred me to the post Covid clinic. Appointments have obviously been put back with lockdown. I have my first appointment in 2 weeks for a lung function test. I am almost better but still get burning lungs when it's cold and with exercise.

Blerg · 18/02/2021 20:03

My DH is in a similar position. He’s late 30s, seemed to have Covid in March. He’s been having on and off lung pain / sensation - worse with stress (anyone else have this), and exercise.

He called the GP this week and is having a blood test, ECG and lung scan.

I’ve also encouraged him to eat low histamine foods as that is meant to help. He eats keto so is annoyed about wine and cheese.

IpanemaNova · 18/02/2021 20:18

I was on the original lungs threads. I still have clear fluid on my lungs every day which I need to clear. I get the burning feeling but it’s much less since January. The breathless went on for months but seems to have gone. My ds, 12, also has lung issues like me, he was poorly a couple weeks after me. We are both asthmatic.

I had two X-rays last year, both clear. I was brushed off by my gp so I’ve left it really. My best friend is/was very similar to me but she had a ct scan (she’s NHS staff) which showed lung inflammation. So I’ve assumed that’s what I have but the inflammation doesn’t shown on the X-ray.
I was very fit before and can still manage a brisk walk but hard exercise really knocks me out for a day afterwards so I’m avoiding. I’m also worried about triggering long term fatigue.
Still have occasional body tremors and nausea.

bellropes · 18/02/2021 20:37

@mylovelydd

It was only in the cold weather. I'm usually okay apart from the chronic cough.

Porcupineintherough · 18/02/2021 21:18

I wasnt on the original thread but maybe the second one. I had COVID for the first time in March, then long covid, then COVID again in Dec.

I was seen at the COVID recovery clinic end July, Sept and again today and hopefully will be discharged if the next lot of bloods come back ok.

I have recovered from most of my long COVID symptoms but still get a burning sensation in my lungs, stomach, mouth, nose and the skin of my face that comes and goes. And pins and needles in my hands that also comes and goes. But the clinic cant explain any of that other than to say "probably inflammation " and it is getting slowly better so I hope one day to make a full recovery.

Tootsey11 · 18/02/2021 21:31

I can't remember which thread I was on, I had covid in March too. I still have burning in my chest and back, still have chest pain and shortness of breath. Had a chest xray which came up fine. The burning can be very intense at times, I hope eventually this all will clear.

MidSummersNightmare · 18/02/2021 21:55

This is interesting. I had suspected covid last March. Very minor symptoms, I felt tired, shivery and like an elephant was sitting on my chest for a couple of weeks.

Since then I get regular flare ups of illness. I feel exhausted, sore throat, swollen glands, shivery, burning skin on my legs and burning lungs. I tried to start running again having previously been very fit and my lungs really burn and I struggle with even a minute of exercise.

I wondered if I’d caught another virus but it’s strange that it’s happening so frequently in a year when I’ve had limited contact with people.

amyj606 · 18/02/2021 22:17

I got covid mid October and have chest issues. My upper chest feels tight, sore and heavy and I get a weird feeling when I breathe as if there's fluid there. I realise how odd that sounds but its hard to explain. I've got a follow at the doctors next week after a ECG and bloods. My bloods have shown something up but its nothing to worry about but I need to go over the results

HSHorror · 18/02/2021 23:30

I was on from april i think.
My rib pain got better. And upper chest. But i have had burn about once in last 3m from bleached toilets. Also was triggered by fire smoke. Im asthmatic but didnt have these triggers before.
But my main issues are
insomnia.
Pins and needles in hands after sleep.
Muscle twitches including during sleep.
Could for me be linked to hypothyroidism as gp made me stop taking thyroxine

I did start asthma preventer over the summer which may have helped lungs

For my ongoing ive tried
Ive tried b vitamins, magnesium,
Now trying omega 3 which might get rid of inflammation.
Lots of vit d.

ShastaBeast · 20/02/2021 17:51

I was trying to find a long covid thread. I was on it due to symptoms in March onwards. Only remaining sign is burning lungs at times. This is especially so when doing cardio exercise. I did some today and the burn is there hours later.

Is there any theory as to what causes this? Is it damage internally/will it get better?

KinderWild · 21/02/2021 22:05

Hi - I was on one of the original my lungs threads. I have had burning lungs and a cough on and off since having what I think was covid back last March. I have used my asthma inhaler more. Doc listened to my chest and said it sounds clear.

I've also had breathlessness and sometimes I struggle to stand for more than 5 mins. It tends to come in waves not all the time. I am now pregnant and in the third trimester so some of the tiredness may be down to that although I had the feelings of breathlessness beforehand.
