Just a very quick question.. Do we know if this large group are being called in any given order?

I know my area are definitely starting with the oldest people in group 6 and working down. Other areas might be similar I suppose or might be going by condition.

dunno by my 28 year old husband (on high dose steroids) and my 45 year old sister in law (MS) were both called on the same day

Doubtful if what my GP surgery told me on Tuesday is commonplace - I was making an enquiry as I believed I should have been included for asthma (even after all the changes they’ve hokey cokied with re asthma) but hadn’t received notification. I was told I wasn’t on the list (a whole other story) and that they were actually in the process of ‘mopping up’ the last of group six as they’d done them before group five ShockHmmConfused.
I’d have assumed she was mistaken but for the fact my DH (69) only received his letter to book on Monday. So seems they really have done six before five here.

My dad who is 47 with more than one autoimmune disease was called 2 weeks before my Nan who is 67 with the same illnesses. So I'm not sure if there is a structure as such tbh

CeeJay81 · 18/02/2021 11:48

I'm guessing it just depends on the docs. My 43 year old husband(group 6) got called yesterday by docs to go in this Friday. They've only just started on that group here and only do it one day a week at our local surgery.

Most asthma seems to no longer be a cause for vaccinating - there's a few threads on this.

I think group 6 are now being done by doctors whereas group 5 can be booked nationally/ at the big centres.

I'm 42 and cv and having my jab Saturday! Different areas have worked at different speeds I think.

I, Group 5, received letter told to book via National NHS System on line, given choice of "local" vaccination centres (Not so local)and asked to book first and second vaccine date at same time. Brother, group 6, same GP, had text from surgery to book via surgery for a very local centre dealing with 4 GP practices and only asked to book first vaccine. He gets his before me which is not a problem I dont care just want as many people as possible vaccinated ASAP. No wonder people confused by two systems running side by side

Er, yes, I’m aware. As I said, given my medication, I should be included in the criteria for asthma as it stands now.
My point is I am surprised group six have been prioritised over group five - particularly as the local vaccination centre is running out of vaccine now (as told to me by the GP practice on Tuesday) so group fives now being called are having to go further away. My DHs appointment is 19 miles away. Not an issue for us, but could be for others I imagine.

I called my GP and they confirmed I was group 6 and would here soon. Seems to be by condition where I am as people I know with diabetes all got their notifications on Monday
