Enough biscuits. I really need to lose the coronastone.

WhirlingGerbil · 17/02/2021 10:45

I’m in England. I’ve seen both 28 and 60 in the media and both appear on Gov.uk and the Office of National Statistics.

The ONS base their number of deaths on people who had covid mentioned on their death certificate, whether that was they were tested or not.

I don't think we'll ever get a true picture of how one country fared against another because they all seem to measure it in different ways. If WHO was fit for purpose, something would have been done about that right at the very start.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 17/02/2021 10:45

Enough of not being able to grieve properly with family and friends
Enough of not being able to hug my daughter as she cries down the phone because she misses her dead grandparents
Enough of people being more sympathetic when I tell them mum died of covid than they are when I tell them dad died of cancer
Enough of being told to "look them in the eyes". mum caught it in hospital, maybe they should look me in the eyes.
Enough with the hierarchy of death.

HexWitch · 17/02/2021 10:46

Enough of the government frightening us into trying to protect the health of an entire country.

JeanSpinneysSmallPleasures · 17/02/2021 10:46

@cafenoirbiscuit

Enough 24 hour access to the biscuit tin
😂

Pop this morning on Grin

Enough of SAGE who seem to have eleventy billion members, not one with anything positive to say ever, and who get given a lot of airtime despite not actually being elected by anyone“

Is that such a bad thing? Look at who has been elected.

WhirlingGerbil · 17/02/2021 10:48

@DenisetheMenace Exactly!

fromdownwest · 17/02/2021 10:50

Enough of Mark Drakeford and his rulings of what I can and can not buy in a supermarket.

4 litre of Vodka - OK
A book to see me through the boredom - Sectioned off

thedancingbear · 17/02/2021 10:50

Quite, denisethemenace

On the assumption that all posters on this thread are allowed to vote, we'd probably end up with Brian Cox, David Icke and Danny Dyer providing our science advice.

DameFanny · 17/02/2021 10:52

@BogRollBOGOF

Enough of the mud.

Enough of ignoring that about 30-40% of transmission is within carehomes and hospitals. (Hopefully being managed better with the vaccines being distributed now)

Enough of censoring alternative views. Especially when the media is in max-spin mode depending on what the government are grooming us to do for the next week. Expect bad news on Friday because the weather forecast is looking good for the weekend so we need to be terrified into submission again.

Enough of focusing on petty elements of the rules (Is it local? Are they in a bubble?) Viral spread is about contact between people, particularly in enclosed spaces with limited ventilation. It doesn't make a jot of difference if someone has driven 10 miles and is only in contact with their household, or someone is breaking an arbitary rule such as having a couple of surplus children playing outdoors together.

Enough with suspending life indefinitely. Children still grow up (literally and need new clothes and shoes), older relatives still age, accelerated by lack of mental and physical stimulation. We need education, company and more to do than trudge around a muddy park because there's been nothing else allowed for the past 4+ months.

Enough with gloomy predictions presented as unequivocal fact that we won't be normal until 2025.

"Enough of censoring alternative views"

Enough of thinking someone's 'views' are as important as actual proven facts

Totally agree. Which also bugs me as I like data...

I do agree with you to an extent, it is the one thing that I think Drakeford has got wrong. However, you are unlikely to die from not being able to buy a book but not being able to buy booze coudl kill some people.
frozendaisy · 17/02/2021 10:54

Enough speculation.

frozendaisy · 17/02/2021 10:54

Enough of not having our own swimming pool!

pinkearedcow · 17/02/2021 10:55

I have also had enough of myself and my lack of motivation to do anything except post on MN.

HopelessBlue192 · 17/02/2021 10:56

Enough of the arrogance of government and scientists thinking they can control this. It's a virus. Viruses were here before humans and they will be here after we're gone. Unfortunately you can never control something like this, and as sad as it is when people die, sometimes you just have to weigh up the risks and crack on.

Redpenbluepen · 17/02/2021 10:57

Enough of Brexit and this corrupt, self-serving government.

frozendaisy · 17/02/2021 10:58

Enough of dusty passports

110APiccadilly · 17/02/2021 10:58

Enough comparisons to WW2 (where carrying on as normally as possible, e.g. bombed out shops still open, was prioritised, and people, particularly young people, socialised like anything).

If restrictions had not been put in place, the virus would've ripped through the UK population. Hospitals would've been overwhelmed. Potentially millions of people would have died.

The virus clearly can be controlled - not completely, but to a large degree. When restrictions are imposed, cases and deaths decrease. When they are relaxed, they increase. My 7-year old understands this.

This kind of ignorance actually scares me.

Really good point that probably won’t have occurred to lots of people. Very wide consultations will have taken place before the restrictions were drawn up. Lots of things that seemed arbitrary on the surface probably had sound basis.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/02/2021 11:00

'Enough of the arrogance of government and scientists thinking they can control this. It's a virus'

Honestly, a year in and we get comments like this Confused.

It isn't 'arrogant' it is a fact that infectious diseases need to be kept under control. This is done by restricting normal activities. Sad and very inconvenient of course, but necessary.

Enough of historically-illiterate bollocks like this
DenisetheMenace · 17/02/2021 11:00

Enough of “crack on”
(whatever the subject)
