What are the rules for forlough for childcare reasons?

Our 15mo has been off nursery as they had to close it due to an outbreak. My job has been flexible as they've allowed me to work PT for the days the nursery has been closed.

I'm still not being able to manage my workload and had a breakdown today. (I also received the news that my smear test came back HPV positive and need further screening so not a good week at all).

I've asked my DP to ask to be forloughed as he works outside our home. He's manager has said no (although he did forlough him for homeschooling reasons for his older children). Is that it? There's no more help we can get?

Childcare bubble (although I guess the person providing the childcare would have to isolate if your DC is self-isolating)?

DP can take annual/unpaid/parental leave?

Fressia123 · 16/02/2021 14:28

We only know our babysitter and she's useless. I'm thinking of parental leave but I don't know of it's best if I or him requests it. I'm sorry I just feel.so overwhelmed and lost

How long is nursery closed? Suggests he requests al or unpaid leave.

He has no annual.leave left (which is the problem). But I'm so stressed I can't even work

It's only this week left but I also have my older DD with me as her dad decoded that it was too risky for her to go back to him if the baby was self isolating.

Can you sign off sick for this week?

Froggie456 · 16/02/2021 14:33

So there are no rules/law. Firms do not have to furlough you for any reason, although government guidance says it can be used for childcare.

I don't think we could afford to lose my salary for the next few days they only pay SSP, but in the end it would be the same as unpaid leave anyways , so maybe I'll just do that. But I don't want to, I mean they've been super understanding and one of the owners has his child with nursery with mine so he's empathetic about the whole situation.
