No reaction to vaccine

Alwaysready · 15/02/2021 22:11

Has vaccine at 11am and had no reaction at all. Lots of colleagues had it in last few days and most seem to have had a reaction of some kind- at least a headache, some are more severe. I was prepared for some reaction but nothing. I've read a bit and seems that a reaction is your immune system fighting, so am I lucky no reaction or vaccine may not have worked ?

There's time yet. I felt a bit rough the day after then developed a rash 48 hours later. That was with the Oxford vaccine.

CoffeeRunner · 15/02/2021 22:15

With the Pfizer the common reaction time is 10 hours post vaccine.

With AZ seems to be within 24-48.

That said, many are experiencing no side effects at all. And that’s a good thing.

Beebumble2 · 15/02/2021 22:15

Wait, it was the day after when my reaction hit! Thumping head and exhaustion. It lasted 24 hrs.

Alwaysready · 15/02/2021 22:16

Thanks, yes I had the oxford one. Not sure if I want a reaction or not!

Not experiencing side effects does not mean the vaccine hasn't worked.

Motorina · 15/02/2021 22:17

Plenty of people in the trials got a reaction. But plenty didn't. Pretty much everyone got good immunity. So don't worry :)

MarcelineMissouri · 15/02/2021 22:18

I know quite a few people who’ve had their jabs now and don’t know anyone who’s had anything other than a sore arm so far.

xmouse · 15/02/2021 22:20

I only had a sore arm. Pfizer one

Alwaysready · 15/02/2021 22:22

Thanks everyone, I'll get a grip and stop worrying about something that's not there! 😊
Just had a few too many messages telling me how bad everyone else is feeling!

Parents had Pfizer. Had no side effects at all.

Saywhatyoumeanandmeanwhatyousa · 15/02/2021 22:26

I had the Oxford one on Friday morning and felt fine until this evening. Now, my arm is absolutely killing me where the needle went in, and I'm feeling generally lethargic and unwell

10kaDay · 15/02/2021 22:32

There’s still time 😂 Does your arm feel a bit heavy/sore?

Icequeen01 · 15/02/2021 22:34

I had the Oxford one yesterday at 1.30. I woke up in the middle of the night and felt really unwell (but not as unwell as I felt with Covid!). Felt like I had the flu. I'm still wrapped up in a blanket and haven't left the settee since this morning.

My 80 year old mum has had both Pfizer jabs and didn't even get a sore arm!

Alicenwonderland · 15/02/2021 22:41

My Dad had the Pfizer one (late 60s) and had no reaction.

HalfDutchGirl · 15/02/2021 22:48

I had the Oxford one, took paracetamol before going to bed, felt fine the following day and the only symptoms were feeling very chilly for a couple of hours that evening and a bit of a sore arm for a couple of days but nothing that stopped me carrying about my normal day.

Alwaysready · 15/02/2021 23:50

My dad had the oxford one, as did my brother (who's had covid) no reactions, my mum had Pfizer and no reaction either so maybe its genetic? Or I'll update tomorrow saying how terrible I felt during the night! 😊
Either way I'm happy and lucky to have had the vaccine and I will feel a tiny bit better going to work

My son who has LD and is non verbal had it last week. He definitely had a bad head the next morning and managed to communicate that. He has a very large red mark in his arm and it’s like a very hard lump.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 16/02/2021 00:27

Hope you slept well OP, and still feel good in the morning.
I had my vaccine at 11am too - or just after after the raft of questions
Felt absolutely fine; my arm started aching a bit at midnight, nothing too bad.
4am - very shivery/shaky flu like symptoms & unable to sleep, lasted about 24 hours. Nothing that couldn't be kept at bay with paracetamol,, but very unpleasant & stayed in bed-.
I'd still have had vaccination even if I'd known how bad side effects would be,

Thewinterofdiscontent · 16/02/2021 00:33

See all of you are posting how bad you felt again!

I had AZ and also had no symptoms apart from a sore arm - everyone else at work has had a day off feeling cold or with a sore head. I am concerned actually but I’m not high risk so I’m hoping CV wouldn’t finish me off regardless of the vaccine.

How do you know they got "good immunity"? Confused and what age group are you talking about?
ChocOrange1 · 16/02/2021 07:16

I don't know anyone who has had side effects beside a bit of a sore arm. People who had (even minor) side effects probably like to whinge about it and you just don't hear from those who didnt.

chatw00 · 16/02/2021 07:41

My Dad (70) had his a week ago and said he was fine (Oxford).

ILookAtTheFloor · 16/02/2021 07:52

I had the Pfizer jab and only had a sore arm. Anecdotally those that have the AZ seem to feel unwell afterwards. I'm wondering if I'll feel ill after the 2nd dose.

CodenameVillanelle · 16/02/2021 07:54

Reaction or no reaction means nothing in terms of efficacy. I had Pfizer and had nothing other than a sore arm.

PennyArcade · 16/02/2021 08:02

DH had the Pfizer jab 2 weeks ago. He had a sore arm for about 24 hours after. Nothing worse than any other vaccine. I had the AZ last Friday. I woke up on Saturday with the mother of all headaches and a large, hard swelling at point of vaccine. Felt generally out of sorts and feverish over the weekend but fully recovered now.
