Been offered a vaccination, but I don’t know why

I received a text message on Saturday, inviting me to book my COVID vaccination, but I’m confused as to why. As far as I’m aware, over 65s and the vulnerable are being done now - I thought over 50s (I’ve just turned 50) were a bit later in the year? I’m not ECV, not a frontline worker, to at-risk. I’ve tried calling the surgery, but I’m currently 45th in the queue and you get cut off after 20 mins.

If you are happy to have it just accept it. Several other similar threads on here.

Could be a coding error on your medical file. I believe at the beginning of the pandemic a lot were added manually to identify those at risk.

I have been invited today.
They are offering to group 6 from tomorrow where I am (south coast)
I'm 52 with diabetes so, appointment happily made

If you are wanting the vaccine just go - I certainly would.

Are you sure it's not a scam. my sister got one saying the local clinic are doing a special clinic over half term for teachers. turned out to be fake. horrible people

I think some areas are texting those in lower groups if they have a lot of spare capacity. Just at Gp hubs not big centres. Could be age distribution in the practice. Are you in eg a university town where there would normally be lots of younger patient if the books?

My 52yo DH has also been invited. He has very happily accepted!

Same. I accepted and didn't think to ask at the time. I think it may be asthma related but it's only mild so who knows.

My colleague and her assistant (50s, not vulnerable, and 30s, ditto) were offered theirs last week because our area has one ENORMOUS vaccination centre and they are ahead. It seems sensible if they can as then the "odds and sods adults" can be started before the over-80s need their second jab.

Have a look back, there are many threads from posters who've had the same. Maybe it's your turn or maybe they've made a mistake and called you a bit early but either way you should go and have it and be very happy Smile
