Pre diabetes high risk?

Sorry I know this could be found out if I call my doctor but have been on hold all morning and gave up! Has anyone asked this question and had an answer....

If you are pre diabetic, is that also high risk so you would get the vaccine with the diabetics? I'm guessing no but just wondering for myself. Thank you

Not sure what classes as pre diabetic but I've read type 2 diet controlled diabetes is also classed as group 6

LIZS · 15/02/2021 13:47

Not unless there are other risk factors

Diet controlled diabetes is group 6 but not pre-diabetes is not, according to the green book.

I’m waiting to hear what label they are putting on me now my numbers have gone high. Weirdly it seems from the patient access app it is still ‘pre-diabetic’ label, which I guess means I won’t be having the vaccine yet

I had gestational diabetes when pregnant - does that count?

Kitkat151 · 15/02/2021 14:02

No not pre diabetes

Thanks everyone

@1jan2020 not if you went back to normal following the birth. I had GD too and it basically didn't go away properly so still borderline. However I have been sent for another test to see if it's progressed to diabetes but I don't want to go into hospital while the virus is rife so guess I'll miss the vaccine if it is full blown diabetes, until I have it confirmed
