Confused by vaccine invite??

BerryPieandCustard · 14/02/2021 14:59

I have received a text message from my GP surgery inviting me to make an appointment for a COVID vaccine. The message is definitely from them as previously sent messages about appointments are on the same thread of messages.
There was a link to click which would allow me to book an appointment for as early as Tuesday the 16th feb.
I am a little confused, I am 35 years old and have no conditions that put me at risk. I take no regular medication apart from some cream for acne.
This is a mistake right? Do I book the appointment and go or try and ring them to check?

Get yourself booked in! I certainly would in your shoes

Brunt0n · 14/02/2021 15:06

It could be the medication - have you tried Googling it to see if there’s any link between it and vulnerability to Covid? I would defo take the jag!

Oh12lookanothernamechange1234 · 14/02/2021 15:08

Book it!! I wouldn’t even worry as long as it is geninue! Just go book it!

rwalker · 14/02/2021 15:11

Take it some acne creams or steroid based.
Highly unlikely from cream but steroid affect your immune system so it could be anything with steriods gets you the jab.

TAKE IT.

There are a lot of threads asking exactly the same question, it does seem to be quite common that people are getting invites earlier than they expect. As far as I've seen the general concensus is that if you're invited you should go even if it's before your time

YowMyHead · 14/02/2021 15:15

Low of people are getting invites early, it just means they had vaccines & spaces in your area

The cream I am using is called differin 0.1% which is apparently a kind of retinoid so don’t think there is an increase of risk if I catch COVID.
I will book the appointment and hope I don’t get turned away! Just feel odd about it as there are others who may be more in need than me but have not yet been called.
My mum who lives in the same town and in her mid 50s hasn’t been called yet, maybe my specific GP surgery has a surplus?

My BMI is 28 @hashbrownsandwich so not that.
Just seems odd but I will go but be prepared to be turned away

@hashbrownsandwich

I book these appointments and one thing that people don't seem to realise is that if you have a BMI of 30 or over, you are eligible as you are considered to be at greater risk. Could this be applicable OP? *@BerryPieandCustard*
Thought it was BMI of 40+
Frazzled2207 · 14/02/2021 15:26

whilst I agree it's a bit odd given the amount of people on here that have had similar I'm half expecting to be called up as despite being just 42 I take medication for a thyroid condition

However generally speaking none of us are safe until all of us are safe so you haven't done anything wrong - go along and have it. There is a chance your GP has a surplus and a youthful population so they've just got through the groups super fast?

partyatthepalace · 14/02/2021 15:27

Just book it.

The goal is just to role it out as fast as possible, they are asking people to minimise queries and changes for this reason.

There are going to be mistakes both ways. As long as those who have been missed get an appointment the small percentage of those who got it early will not make a difference in the long run.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/02/2021 15:29

I thought it was a BMI of over 40 that puts you at greater risk @hashbrownsandwich. Has that changed?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/02/2021 15:31

Sorry, I took too long to post, but the NHS website still says 40+
