The link you’ve provided doesn’t seem to report any actual findings, it tells us that someone is carrying out an investigation. The part you’ve quoted doesn’t say that the increased death rate is down to inadequate health care. Unless I’m missing something, there’s nothing in the link that backs up your assertion.
As a large part of my career has been spent supporting children with a wide range of additional needs, mostly learning disabilities, I have a good idea of what carers and other professionals think about the health provision for their children, and it has, overwhelmingly, been positive.[/quote]
@Soontobe60
LeDeR well known national programme. Well, it certainly should be known by health and social care professionals who have regular contact with people who have learning disabilities. I have extensive experience of working in health and social care with older children and adults with LD. Covid has raised some uncomfortable truths. DNACPR being sent to otherwise healthy young adults with learning disabilities and lack of mental capacity act assessments for consent to the Covid vaccine are just two (huge!) current issues.

This is what the NHS has to say; ”People with a learning disability often have poorer physical and mental health than other people and may face barriers to accessing health and care to keep them healthy. Too many people with a learning disability are dying earlier than they should, many from things which could have been treated or prevented.” Link is www.england.nhs.uk/learning-disabilities/improving-health/mortality-review/
