I'm 40, high BMI but otherwise good health.

Was told by midwife to be extra cautious while pregnant but bub is now 5 weeks old.

Should I take the jab appt or decline for more vulnerable to go first? Would that mean I won't be asked again?

WWYD?

Just take it. One less person to go to hospital and you will also be less likely to infect anyone else.

KihoBebiluPute · 11/02/2021 16:39

If you are offered a jab, take it. The administrative effort for them to deal with it as a mistake, reallocate you to the right category, and invite you again when it is actually your turn, is an unnecessary extra burden. There are going to be mistakes because no system is perfect. Obviously such time that is available to deal with mistakes should be dedicated to rectifying the opposite situation, where someone is not invited who should be. You need the jab sooner or later, and the easiest way to be the least amount of trouble is to just do as you are told.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/02/2021 16:43

It won’t mean you won’t be asked again. They want high uptake and just now they have been emphasising that anyone from the early groups who has declined and then changed their mind should get in touch.
However I would go for it.

DinosaurDiana · 11/02/2021 16:44

Take it.

SeldomFollowedIt · 11/02/2021 16:44

SIL has just been offered hers and she’s 22. She has no idea why but she’s just had a baby too?

StrangeAddiction · 11/02/2021 16:46

Take it.

You'll get the jab for high bmi anyway so just take it when it's offered. Your trust might be ahead with the groups so have got to you a bit quicker.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 11/02/2021 16:48

I'd take it!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 11/02/2021 16:49

Take it.

As others have said, it's really not helping not to get it when invited. It's more likely to either get wasted or injected into some even less in need than you are.

As. Person with a high BMI you are at risk. (Me too, no judgement). Plus post birth & likely not getting much sleep you're more vulnerable too.

One more vaccinated, it's all good.

DinosaurDiana · 11/02/2021 17:32

I am vaccinating and I get really frustrated when I can’t give everyone a jab !
I have couples coming together yet only one can have it. It would save a journey if I just did them both there and then.
Take it !

TheLaughingGenome · 11/02/2021 17:34

Please accept it.

Bluntness100 · 11/02/2021 17:36

Potentially due to your bmi, depending on how high. Just take it.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/02/2021 17:38

I thought this was being done actually. Heard of a couple of examples.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 11/02/2021 17:41

The trigger BMI is 40.1. it's the same criteria for a flu jab. I'm in that group (6) too. They will have your weight due to maternity check ups, if you've lost some since that drops it lower, they probably won't have it on record. I agree with everyone else, do it.

OpheliasCrayon · 11/02/2021 17:48

Take it if you want it

Crunchymum · 11/02/2021 17:58

How do they have your weight if you've not been weighed for a while / gained a lot during pregnancy? (They have your starting weight not end weight so they'll be looking at your weight at 8 weeks-ish?)

Wherediditgo · 11/02/2021 17:58

I’d take it OP

PatchworkElmer · 11/02/2021 18:01

Just take it.

Spodge · 11/02/2021 18:27

Take it

DinosaurDiana · 11/02/2021 20:12

No. We know how many vaccines we have so we invite that many people. If there’s any left over at the end they phone next in the list.
DenisetheMenace · 11/02/2021 20:13

Please take it. High BMI is a big risk and your little one needs you!

mrsrhodgilbert · 11/02/2021 20:28

I know of two couples who have turned up together, only one due for the vaccine but both have been offered it on arrival. Both with an 80 and 79 year old

That's how you do it, I was talking of the people I've heard about.
