Hi all. My 3 year old has just come into our bed with a high temperature.

Should we get tested? Should we quarantine?

Thanks for you advice!

Yes, test and isolate while you wait for the results. Hopefully you won't be waiting long.

MindyStClaire · 11/02/2021 03:12

Oh and it's just DD who needs to get tested if she's the only one who's sick, but the whole household needs to isolate until the results are through.

OpheliasCrayon · 11/02/2021 05:09

Of course.....

It does worry me a little that after nearly a year people still don't know what the rules are , especially with a fever which has always been one of the symptoms for a test from day one..... Very concerning

Yes you need DD testing and to isolate until you get the results, I hope she feels better soon.

wincarwoo · 11/02/2021 07:40

Thank you. We are off to be tested.

Maybe op wanted to come and ask as it was 3am doesn’t make them stupid, I’m sure she knew what she had to do anyway just needed clarification. Not people calling her stupid. I’d say someone that comes on and calls someone stupid when they are at home with an unwell child isn’t a very nice person

MindyStClaire · 11/02/2021 10:48

Yes I do agree we should all know the rules by now. But at the same time, our house has needed tests for someone seven times now, whereas I know loads of people who haven't needed any yet. I can understand seeking reassurance at 3am that you're thinking along the right lines if it's the first time you've had to consider it. OP is doing the right thing, no need to give her a hard time.

Hope you get a quick negative OP and life can return to normal Smile

Seeline · 11/02/2021 10:52

I'd far rather people asked for clarification than just blindly carried on with normal life spreading disease everywhere.

Hope all is OK OP

Thanks all you supportive people 😀. I knew I could rely on sound advice at 3am from the decent mumsnetters.

I'm not interested in being chastised by the rest of you.

We've now been tested and DD has perked up. So we will see.

Just to say that in some areas whole families are recommended to test if one person has symptoms (eg where I live)- so check the guidance for your local area (usually the local council)
