Best guess for hairdressers reopening in England?

I know it's not important in the greater scheme of things but I can't even blow dry my own hair let alone tackle the roots. When do we, realistically, think hairdressers will reopen in England?

I've only managed to get my hair cut once in the past year. Each time I rebook we've gone back into lockdown. At this rate I'm gonna be like Rapunzel 😬🤣
So in answer to your question I'm hoping March! Otherwise I'm going to have to try and do a unicorn cut 🤣

I guess if people dress up as cleaners/builders or whoever else is allowed to work in the house then they can get away with the ‘underground’ visits.

The longer this goes on the more this will happen.
They’ll let men get their beards trimmed though before any of the beauty salons open as per last time...

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 23:04

I read that there is a rule that people who work on camera are allowed hairdressers and makeup artists still #oneruleforthem

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 23:05

@Delatron they were getting their nose hairs plucked as well.

I was looking at Fiona Bruces hair while watching QS last week. Amazing non growing fringe. Hairdressers in England closed on 19th December.
People are starting to get fed up about this. A beauticians post was shared onto my fb by my hairdresser. She posted how it was working class womens businesses suffering and working class womens confidence being affected by looking and feeling scruffy while ppl like Holly get their hair done.

MadameTuffington · 10/02/2021 23:24

@BakewellGin1

I am praying for soon... Even oldest DS is furious at the thought of returning to school in his current scruffy state!! Youngest DS looks like stig of the dump I can box dye and do but its definitely due a professional job
This! DD14 freaking out too about her bloody highlights 🤡

It’s yet another nonsensical and pointless rule from this farcical Government

shinynewapple21 · 10/02/2021 23:32

@Delatron

I think May 4th will be the magic day for hairdressers/pubs/ restaurants.

Yes I think similar.

I've been trimming my own fringe but the back is really long now. I also have a box dye in the cupboard in need to brave as I have about inch and half grey roots now.

Jackie2022 · 10/02/2021 23:36

Fuckkk.

I said last lockdown that I’d never let myself have lockdown hair again (think dark roots, blonde lengths with damaged ends leading to thin mid lengths).

But no, here we go again! My hairdresser accidentally made me blonder than normal in December so I’ll have even worse roots this time around! It already looks bad and my root touch up isn’t even due.

MajesticWhine · 10/02/2021 23:38

My hairdresser offered me a cut and colour on the sly at her house. I won't, but tempted...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/02/2021 23:43

Based on the measures hairdressers have put in place to make them “Covid secure” I think they might open before retail. My guess is April.

CorianderBee · 10/02/2021 23:47

Sigh, I was blonde when the pandemic started and now am completely brunette 😂 lockdown 3 started the day before my appt. guess I'll wait until May

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 10/02/2021 23:52

My last haircut was a year ago this week. Im looking pretty ragged even by my very low maintenance standards.

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 23:57

You just fucking know that if a woman dared complain about this publicly that fuckers like Piers Morgan would be all "we are in a pandemic ,why are you complaining about something so trivia"l when he and fuckers like him have spent their entire (media) lives criticizing women for the way they look and are usually the first to gob off if a woman isnt "groomed" enough.

Mine was a year ago last week, I'm eyeing my dog clippers up as I'm getting so desperate but just clinging on in the hope that they will re-open soon, my ends are crispy.
MercyBooth · 11/02/2021 00:12

My hair is in great condition Hairdresser always says so. I never use heated tools and just let my hair dry naturally. Its the grey roots and the fringe in my eyes that i hate

Fuckitsstillraining · 11/02/2021 00:33

Any hairdressers out there who can advise me? I normally have my hair bleached and toned to get a silvery blonde colour which I love, had my hair done last October, next appointment was for December but I cancelled because my Dad was ill and I was minding him 120 miles away and then of course lockdown reoccurred, its now almost 4 months and while I'm surprised that my hair isn't worse I'd still like to do something with it, I wouldn't dare try lighten the roots because I've a lot of warmth/red tones which need careful handling but I'd consider going dark. My natural colour seems to be a dark brown (been colouring my hair blonde for 44 years) with a tiny amount (a few strands) of grey. I suppose I'm bored because I'm seriously considering a box colour.

Mockolate · 11/02/2021 00:39

I'm hoping soon
I don't think I've had my hair cut for about 5 years now (no exaggeration) but it's starting to feel a bit straggly, for the first time in my life feeling I really need a haircut lol
