Name changed :
I had Pfizer vaccine about 8 weeks ago . My rescheduled 2nd dose is 3 weeks.
I have Coronavirus.
Is there any point in taking the 2nd vaccination?
Will it “overload” my immune system? Does any one know ?

Can the helpline and ask. 119. Simple.

LemonSwan · 10/02/2021 16:18

I am sorry I do not know as not medically trained.

I would ask the GP.

Can I ask as an aside - are you symptomatic and how long have you had it?

Sorry, ignore above. I've asked for it to be deleted. Must not cook and read and typeBlush

@FlatteredRhubardFool - 2nd is in 3 weeks, she’ll be out of isolation by then.

ihatethecold · 10/02/2021 16:22

Ask ahead. One of the questions asked when you are vaccinated is “have you had a positive Covid test in the last 28 days.”

Thiscantreallybehappening · 10/02/2021 16:26

@FlatteredRhubardFool

I'm sure OP is isolating, her 2nd vaccination isn't for 3 weeks. Hopefully, she will feel better by then and not be infectious.

OP I saw somewhere that if you have Coronavirus you need to leave a gap before you have the vaccination. This was for the first vaccination so I don't know if it also applies to the 2nd vaccination and I don't know how long you had wait but your GP should be able to help you.

Hope you are not feeling too ill Flowers

theladylovescupcakes · 10/02/2021 16:26

They'll not vaccinate until you've passed 30 days after your positive test.

Suzeyshoes · 10/02/2021 16:33

Ask somebody who’s qualified.

Sparklehead · 10/02/2021 16:50

Hello, sorry that you’ve got Covid. I also had the first dose of Pfizer vaccine (in January) and subsequently got Covid. The vaccination centre (at the hospital where I work) said that there needed to be a minimum period of 4 weeks since testing positive before I could have the second jab. My second jab isn’t due til early March so it doesn’t affect the time scale for me, but I think it might for you. Can you contact the vaccination booking team directly and ask them?

Sparklehead · 10/02/2021 16:52

Sorry, should also add that I was told I should still get the second dose despite having had Covid.

FiPfizer · 10/02/2021 16:55

Thanks for the helpful replies. I knew I would get some .
I am isolating. I am getting better.
It looks like I will have to contact them to rearrange it .

I’d still have it but wait till the recommended time after your covid infection has passed. I’ve had the first dose and if I would still have the second if I’d been infected inbetween

FiPfizer · 10/02/2021 16:57

I wasn’t sure if it would be an unnecessary use of a vaccine dose .

@FiPfizer sorry to hear this.

Also- Public Health England is asking clinicians to report patients who get Covid after 10 days post first vaccination, which you would definitely fall within. Would be worth phoning your GP to ask them to report your case if this hasn’t already been done.

Hope you’re not too symptomatic and recover soon Flowers

FiPfizer · 10/02/2021 17:04

Thanks @GnarlyOldGoatDude.
