I'm in a West London borough. I'm delighted. Obviously. But am I queue jumping? I'm a teacher but my GP doesn't know that. I parent my grandson and my GP probably does know that but didn't think I classed as a 'carer' as such. So why have I been called?

I think your GP might have you down as an unpaid carer. Great that you got it in any case.

SophieB100 · 09/02/2021 21:11

Don't question it Op, just roll up your sleeve and have the jab.
I'm a few years older than you - and a teacher - and can't wait for the call.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/02/2021 21:13

Maybe there’s been a low take up in your area? Or not as many older age groups.

ScribblingPixie · 09/02/2021 21:13

Someone on another thread said their healthy late-50s parents in north London had been called in - some areas are wizzing along!

worriedpleasereassureme · 09/02/2021 21:19

Enfield in north London is on the same level now. They are getting through them so fast

GoldenPenPot · 09/02/2021 23:09

My parents are mid-60s in Yorkshire and have just had the call. No underlying conditions. Impressed with how fast this is all moving.

Covidcorvid · 09/02/2021 23:12

Wow, that’s good. Dd is in group 6 and hasn’t been called yet but hoping she does soon.

Spring2021 · 09/02/2021 23:15

I am in group 4 up north and I am only getting mine this week. I think its a postcode lottery.

Imissmoominmama · 09/02/2021 23:26

I had mine today. I care for a vulnerable adult. Your GP will most likely have you down as a carer.

Magissa · 10/02/2021 00:53

@Oilyvoir Me too. Similar age, no major health conditions,Live in W London. Got a text last Thursday inviting me to call to make an appointment. I called straight away and was given an appointment for the following afternoon and at the same time my second vaccine was booked for ten weeks. I wondered whether the uptake is low here and they are just ahead of the game.

cabbageking · 10/02/2021 02:11

My care is 88 and very frail and got a letter yesterday saying to wait for GP to get in touch.
Over the border they are accepting over 70s. Seems to vary widely.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 10/02/2021 02:16

It looks like the take up in London is lower than else where because half the population is BAME. Black and Asian people are reported to have a reduced percentage who what the jab.

Also London has a much younger population than most places. So less elderly to jab in the first place.

Definitely take the opportunity to get the jab now. Your age means you are i
group 9 anyway. My husband is too. We are London. So fingers crossed he my get his earlySmile

MrsBennetsnerves · 10/02/2021 02:48

Wow, lucky you! Go for it. I'm in S London, in group 8, but not a carer. No-one has been in touch yet and I have been expecting it to happen in April.

Oilyvoir · 10/02/2021 07:34

A friend thought they might be inviting younger people this week because of the weather.

Either way, take it! You're out there working in very close contact with students and colleagues without any protection, so anything you can do to protect yourself, family and others is good.

snowydaysandholidays · 10/02/2021 08:17

Thats great news op!! Take it!
