Why do I have to travel 20 miles?

Lots of people I know have had their Covid vaccination in the town in which we live but mine has been requested miles away.

I can't find anything on Google to help and you're not supposed to mither your GP practise or local hospital.

Could it be because the NHS have recognised me as being vulnerable and/or because I get a rash from penicilllin and this is where I'll get the correct type?

Really 20 miles is not that far!
I went on that link and could choose between town A 15 miles and cities B and C 50 miles. I'd happily have gone 50 miles away.
It was a treat to go out of the village tbh.

You might hear from your GP, my husband got the letter and we booked his appointment for the next day. Then the GP's receptionist phoned to offer him one at the local centre where the local GPs are doing the jabs. We went to the one he'd booked, I actually enjoyed the trip, I went for the ride, 45 minute drive there we haven't been that far in months.

@loveyoutothemoon

So if the reason isn't because of vaccine type, because it's a big general hospital they'll likely have both in anyway?! Blush
Yes Grin.

Even our relatively small centre deals with both (although anything smaller would struggle with Pfizer).

When I booked, it was stated with vaccine would be given at each hospital. I could pick from 4 local (ish) hospitals in London.

Nacreous · 09/02/2021 19:11

Hospitals mainly only run a single vaccine but if you don't have anaphylactic allergies then you should be fine with either.

The hospital have probably got vaccine and are calling all their CEV patients in - you might get a closer offer later but I would recommend taking what you're offered if you can travel there.

I’ve researched quite a lot and I don’t think any of the vaccines have penicillin in them

coffeerunner
Thank you , I've been told I came out in a rash when I was about three years old, so hopefully I should be ok but I will check first.

@JustanotherTuesday

I'm allergic to penicillin also, has anything been mentioned about that ? I've not heard anything.
You can have either vaccine.
