Are you unsure about getting the vaccine for now?

Not anti vaccination but just unsure to have it immediately. If this is the case for you - does it feel like you would be at increased risk when things open up?

I’m dithering- I want to get vaccinated but at the same time don’t want it to this soon - really scared of the side effects for one. I feel having a little time will help me prepare. If you are not having it immediately (if offered) or not having it at all ( whatever your reason might be it should be respected) then do you feel nervous about going back to work for example?

What preparation are you going to do exactly in all this time? Ponder how the potential effects of covid are far higher than potential vaccine side effects, perhaps?

ErrolTheDragon · 07/02/2021 23:30

No, I'm not unsure. I've not heard of any side effects which are anything like comparable with getting Covid badly, or then having 'long Covid'.

tobee · 07/02/2021 23:30

I'm champing at the bit for mine

MoirasRoses · 07/02/2021 23:32

I’ll have yours if you don’t want it. I’ve got a severe phobia of vomiting but even with that as a potential side effect, I’ll have it. I’ll bear it. Anything for society to get back to normal!

Rosehip10 · 07/02/2021 23:33

How will time help you "prepare"?

MajesticWhine · 07/02/2021 23:33

I guess what you mean by having a little time to prepare is seeing if other people develop serious long term side effects?

I think you'll probably be ok when things open up because lots of people are having the vaccine so these people in the population will effectively protect you by keeping overall infection rates low.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/02/2021 23:35

I'm last in line for it so I probably won't have it for a few months, I think that any side effects would be known by then.

I'm not fussed about having it, I will have it as it is available but I'd happily go back to normal myself without having had it. I'm not scared of Covid or the vaccine.

XenoBitch · 07/02/2021 23:37

I am not in the group 1-9, so hopefully there will be no pressure to get it once those groups are done. I will decline..

Borderterrierpuppy · 07/02/2021 23:38

No, it’s a vaccine that might prevent me from having and passing on a virus that has now killed 2.3 million people in the last year.
Not to mention long covid that sound hideous and debilitating.
It’s a very safe vaccine.
Having covid is not safe.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 07/02/2021 23:39

Ooh can't wait for mine. Some of my family & my dearest friends have had theirs and I'm so relieved.

Mintjulia · 07/02/2021 23:42

I'll be thrilled when I am offered a jab. No hesitation

LastTrainEast · 07/02/2021 23:43

"I will decline" well I'm sure Bill Gates will be very disappointed that he couldn't chip you.

o8O8O8o · 07/02/2021 23:44

not v concerned about immediate side effects but I do wonder about any long term effects, probably wait it out in the hope that in a couple of years the virus will be out of circulation
I'm ok to stay distanced for a couple of years because that's how I live anyway

PandoraP · 07/02/2021 23:44

What side effects?

XenoBitch · 07/02/2021 23:44

@LastTrainEast

"I will decline" well I'm sure Bill Gates will be very disappointed that he couldn't chip you.
I don't subscribe to that line of thinking. Nice try.
sonnysunshine · 07/02/2021 23:46

Having had covid and been so fucking ill I can't remember a few days of my life I leapt at the chance as I'm a health care worker. I felt rough for about three days but nothing even close to how bad I was with Covid. I was slightly worried as I react to everything so knew I was likely to have a shit reaction but still very happy to have it.

DishedUp · 07/02/2021 23:48

How are we supposed to get our of this if we don't vaccinate?
Right now I feel our only option is to vaccinate everyone to gain heard immunity. Its not about whether on an individual level the side effects are worse than covid or not.

Honestly at worst you will feel a bit crap for a day or too. You just need to get over it

Sittingonabench · 07/02/2021 23:49

I will have it as soon as I can but unlikely to be any time soon so in the meantime I’m trying to lose a bit of weight to get to healthy BMI and taking vitamin D supplements. Might not be much but hopefully offer a bit more protection from serious illness.
I do think there are people with anxiety around the vaccine and hope time will help resolve fears and if not that people reach out for help if they want vaccine.

LilyPond2 · 08/02/2021 00:01

When my turn comes (-won't be for a while yet) I am thinking that I'd like to get an appointment at the end of the week so that I can rest over the weekend if I get side effects rather than having the stress of having to work when feeling grotty. I am someone who is quite wary of medical intervention, but from everything I've read so far, any risk inherent in the vaccine being so new appears to be massively outweighed by the risks of Covid.

QueenPawPaws · 08/02/2021 00:14

@LilyPond2 that's what I did. had AZ, sore arm, sweating/shivering, couldn't get warm and a headache. Took paracetamol straight after the vaccine and carried on with it and it's nearly 48hrs now and I feel better
