My DS is quite unsocial . He has a few friends but doesnt see the regularly .
He pops out a few times a day to walk round the block for a cigarette but that's pretty much it is far as young out
Yesterday he told me he was going out when I asked him where he was going
Hes quite secretive
He didnt come home last night
Transpires there are 3 of them that kipped round a friends house
2 and the mate so 3 in total
Hes gonna need to test at the end of the week isnt he ? One of those lateral 1 hour test things
I'm pretty pissed off to be honest . He knows the rules and broke them
My husband is a key worker ( office based tho not front line)

Ok perhaps I'm being too overly cautious
It's my husband had his first test
He is mainly office based but he has a few in his workplace that are shielding or isolating so he goes out to the elderly and vulnerable if they are very short staffed. He got called out a few weeks back . It doesnt happen often but it can
Ok I'll keep an eye , I didnt know that LF ones were not that accurate , who knew .
I'm sure my husband does regularly test we just dont discuss it

At the end of the day Op's DS could go and get a LF test as there are many LF testing sites set up in towns now. Presumably the only people who use them are people who have no symptoms and just want to "check".

However, due to my job I had to have a LF test daily. I had 4 negative tests in a row including the morning that I also did a PCR which came back positive. In all the time we were using the LF devices at work they only picked up 1 asymptomatic case and not the other 12 of us that were positive. So really not a reliable test.

Not unless he has symptoms or any of his friends test positive, no.

Frazzled2207 · 07/02/2021 09:59

He broke the rules but that doesn’t mean he needs a test unless he has symptoms. Overwhelmingly likely that his friends did not have the virus.

LF ones are only available in certain workplaces and areas. If available he could get one but otherwise no need for a test unless he shows symptoms. If one of his friends gets ill he needs to isolate

Or re tests: Lateral flow tests are designed to be done a number of times, e.g you'd do 3 tests to get a positive result - they are not effective as a one off.

You'd need a PCR test for a more accurate result as a one off.

Remmy123 · 07/02/2021 10:21

Why does he need to test?? Highly unlikely he won't have caught it - only test if symptoms 🙄

hopeishere · 07/02/2021 11:10

He may have broke the rules but he only needs to test if he has symptoms. Keep him away from your DH.
