Once vaccinated, how early does some immunity kick in?

My husbands 80± year old nan has been taken to hospital today and has tested positive for Covid. She had her vaccination about a week ago.

Probably a stupid question, but will she have any protection on her side?

I thinknits at least two weeks before any immunity kicks in, which is why they say to carry on with restrictions even after jab.

I am working on three weeks, I go out for a drive in the afternoon to see other humans and that is it.

Sorry to hear about your Nan. Pip is right unfortunately. My DS medic girlfriend also caught COVID a week after her vaccination. She had it quite mild but I don’t think the vaccine influenced that. I hope your Nan recovers quickly it must be very worrying

Oh dear. Hope she is ok and too uncomfortable.

Some immunity kicks in after 2 weeks with the Pfizer and 3 weeks with the oxford/AZ. So a probably a bit to early to have made antibodies I am afraid.

Two to three weeks but usually takes longer in older people. Hope she's ok
